Fairy, I bought a head torch recently for dark nights at the cottage, and it's fab.  It re-charges from a USB socket so I just need one charger for phone, kindle and torch.  image

Morning all, Weather is lovely this morning so I'm going out to do some potting on and tidying the greenhouse.  Ground is too wet to do much in the actual garden.  Had some lovely seeds come this morning from Seedaholic, does anyone else use them?  They always come with a great fact sheet and very good sowing information.  Will have to wait for the current lot to germinate before I can sow them.  Unless I get another propagator image.

I'm with you Hosta.  The Chrysler Building is my favourite it's so beautiful and evocative of its time.

Enjoy your rain Pat.  I'm glad to see the back of it here after yesterday.

Lost a little bit more at weightwatchers this morning.  A real suprise after  Pancake Day and eating too much chocolate this week.  It must have been all the gardening and moving pots around.image

    Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Sounds good Liri -  especially useful for you over there. I'll have to look at various models. I don't have a smart phone so it won't matter what type of power it has, although it helps to have one with good battery life. It just makes it handy if I want to be out longer on the shorter days. image

    Just for you Yvie,

Prior to its completion, the building stood about even with a rival project at 40 Wall Street, designed by H. Craig Severance. Severance increased the height of his project and then publicly claimed the title of the world's tallest building.[18] (This distinction excluded structures that were not fully habitable, such as the Eiffel Tower.)[19] In response, Van Alen obtained permission for a 38-meter (125 ft) long spire[20] and had it secretly constructed inside the frame of the building. The spire was delivered to the site in four different sections.[21] On October 23, 1929, the bottom section of the spire was hoisted to the top of the building's dome and lowered into the 66th floor of the building. The other remaining sections of the spire were hoisted and riveted to the first one in sequential order in just 90 minutes.[22]

    Completion[edit]

Upon completion on May 27, 1930,[1][2] the added height of the spire allowed the Chrysler Building to surpass 40 Wall Street as the tallest building in the world and the Eiffel Tower as the tallest structure. It was the first man-made structure to stand taller than 1,000 feet (305 m)

    Devon.

Thanks Hosta, knew there was a reason why I loved that building so much.  May 27th is my birthday!!!

I've used them Yvie - beautifully packaged and lovely clear instructions, as you say,  which is especially good for people who need a bit more guidance. I'd definitely use them again  image

Saw that on the news Hosta...nothing really surprises me about that man any more....image

The birds are really getting on with the nest building today -the  robin has been hopping along the fence with a length of dead clematis stem in his beak, blackbirds are pulling mud from the pond edge and a pair of bluetits are busy going in and out of the nest box on the ash tree trunk.  image

Ive just stopped for lunch and am enjoying The Now Show - it is such a good programme image
