There's a plan for this pergola thingy!

    Shed along the back

    image

Terrace at the base with house at bottom and extension along right as far as terrace.

Joyce hammock is a nice idea and I have a Jamaican one in the shed I think...but after that fruit cake not sure its such a sound plan! image thinking about a curved bench made of pallet planks attached facing out to the garden though. image

Fairy, so far I have a honeysuckle, a summer Jasmine and a Montana that are all established and are options! image

Hosta and BusyL, I will take pics!

Hosta...ask your OH how much he will pay you to stay at home on his birthday and negotiate between him and waitrose! image

The reason for the pergola is that the first floor window is our neighbours kitchen and overlooks completely. The pergola is going along the curve of the grass with centre walkway going up the step. Watch this space! image

Sounds really exciting, Wonky!  Looking forward to the end result.  A pergola is such a good idea if you need privacy from a window high up, without reducing the light in your garden.  image

Wow, Obelixx - great progress on your house.  I wish I knew your secret for getting builders to quote for a job; I thought people needed work, but nobody seems to want to tackle our damp problem... or maybe I'm just impatient and the quotes will arrive soon.  Here's hoping!

Well, I've finished the pruning in the area near the market (known as "Pollination Street").  In the past week I've pruned 10 overgrown apple trees, 33 gooseberries, 21 blackcurrants, 9 redcurrants and 2 blueberries.  Only the clearing up to do now, then on to the next area!  It's nice to be useful... though I'm a bit stiff tonight...

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

It hasn't all gone smoothly Liri.   First people I asked about a shower room never called back.   First chappy I asked about finishing our annex asked for an email with details of the job then phoned just as we were leaving to go to dance class and never called again.  Two tree surgeons have failed to reply to requests for a quote.

I went in person to see another chap about the shower room we want built and it turns out he has a team who can finish our annex and please can they come this week cos it's too wet to work outside?

The plumber is a gem I found by chance when we needed a leaky bathroom basin fixed.  He's also an electrician so gets those jobs too.   He's happy, we're happy but he's also busy so we have to book him ahead.

Well done for all that pruning.  You must have sore wrists and shoulders now.

Love your plans Wonky.  I've seen a "single stemmed" pergola on sale here.   Yours should do the job nicely.

Morning image. Nearly the weekend image

Pergola plans look great Wonky - not only will it give you privacy, but a bit of height in a garden always transforms it too.  Looking forward to progress pics image

Sounds like a mammoth prun-a-thon Liri - those trees and bushes are going to be laden this summer image.

I am finally getting up in the light, and leaving the office before the sun sets (imageusuallyimage)........hooooray???

    Morning all, evening Pat,

Drizzle here today and I'm working outside shifting soil, ground leveling, weed matting to be laid and Scottish pebbles to lay down.

Nice to be up in daylight isn't it Chicky? image and the weekend ahead too! image

Well done on the community prune Lirio!

Hope everyone has a good day

    Good morning all image

Chickyimage It's so good when the days begin to lengthen - I used to hate the time of year when I only saw the garden in the daylight at weekends.

There's just a touch of frost on the garage roofs this morning.

Morning all/afties Pat if you're around image

Frosty here again - minus two when I fed the birds earlier. Weather's not looking too great for the weekend so I'm going to head up to the R and be Thankful after work to see if I can fit in a little hill, just in case the forecast's right and the weekend's a duffer. Might be a tad icy - crampons and axe are packed. Hope the police don't stop me for carrying an offensive weapon....image

Bet Liri's a bit weary and sore today...image

Nice to get up in the light - nice to be able to see to put the slap on without needing lights chicky image

Pergola/screen will be great Wonks. Will you paint it a dashing colour?   image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Morning all.

Raining here again this morning. I'm heading to the polytunnel to sow sweet peas.

I might have a look at the hostas I bought last year to see if they can be split. image
