We've never had a power cut of more than a few minutes since I've lived in Norwich, but I'm still a country girl and have candles, matches and torches in the desk drawers in the front hall image

Morning all/afties Pat - good job you got the wash in. I had the same problem yesterday with the rain in squally showers. Just left it out anyway  image

Wind woke me up this morning - outside not inside - but it's settled a bit now. Not looking too good weatherwise for tonight though. Hope Liri gets back safely tomorrow - the snow will cause a few issues along with the wind. Lots of ferry cancellations today too.

Yvie - we'll keep you right with your sweet peas - don't worry! I've only just sown a few for planting into borders. The rest will get sown direct into big pots  in a few weeks. Mabel's comment made me smile. I wonder where they pick up the things they say.....image  image

I'd struggle without tea at any point chicky, never mind at work...

I'll have a quick look round before I go to t'mines. Have a good day everyone whatever you're getting up to.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I'm exaggerating Dove, image, the candles are sitting proudly on top of the China Cabinet with the matches. But when the power goes off, it usually stays off until they can get out to the area that needs attention. Der!! . Just in time for the evening TV. As usual. We might have an early night.

Pat image  We used to get occasional long power cuts when I lived in rural Suffolk.  Lots of big old oaks, elms and ash trees which would drop limbs onto power cables.

Same here Dove, except eucalyptus trees. Never mind, the thermos is filled with boiling water so we will still be able have a cuppa.image

Yay! We've had some rain! Not a lot but every little helps. As I shall be doing rather a lot of tree / shrub planting over the next couple of weeks I would rather appreciate a wet spring. But I'll keep it local if the rest of you need some dry image

Hope all goes ok at the medical Chicky. I have found 2 options for mulch etc. First is to get a dumpy bag of the stuff delivered (a cubic metre for around £80 - 90 is the going rate round here. I can get the bag placed somewhere where it is fairly tidy and out of the way and pick away at it.

The second option is to get my landscaper to deliver a load or half load on his truck - usually spent mushroom compost. It's usually about 2 cubic metres for around £60. But it's loose and he just has to dump it on the driveway. So it's a bit in the way and I have to deal with it promptly. Swings and roundabouts.

Hope the power stays on Pat!

Where are you off to Dove - anywhere near here?

    Morning all.

I should have noted the plastic grass man's number and given him a call as I was awake until 4am. image

Very breezy, raining and feels cold this morning. I think seed sowing in the tunnel beckons.

    More tea needed.

    Morning all.

LP, the river at the back has been high and fast flowing for the last few days. However, I think a better, drier spell of weather is coming in.

T'bird and Pat, you want sufficient rain not too much!
