We had a lovely lunch here, in Fressingfield. Went for a walk first. We thought we'd go for a walk afterwards at a place called Thornham Walks, but it closed at 4pm and we arrived at 3.30 so there
wasn't really enough time. We drove home through country lanes looking at villages on the way. The weather was glorious.
Sorry we didn't pop in yesterday, Topbird. We are only here 6 days this time. Maybe in the summer, or we could meet up at a bluebell wood in early May.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Love the Fox & Goose BL. Many memorable meals there. Many moons ago it had a Michelin star - I know those people are no longer there but it still has a really good reputation. Glad you enjoyed it.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I am vibrating. Spent part of the morning with the sander on the plaster board fixings and then cleaned all that up then, after lunch, OH and I moved pots round from behind the ruin where they have sheltered all winter to the east side of the house where I've weeded and tidied and fed them and can keep an eye and also work out what is going where.
Then I spent 3 hours trundling round on the mower cutting long grass (hay) and trimming the big bit. Lots of bouncing up and down and banging of shins on knobs in the long grass. Utterly knackering.
Clari - what are you going to do with yourself when you have a full set of leccy and walls and heating? After the cleaning and painting that is.
Busy - looks a nice place. Was lunch good?
Hosta - we don't get Levingtons and John Innes compost here but we do get compost for pots and troughs or for pelargoniums and baskets which are loamy. I always us that for pots unless I need some ericaceous stuff which also tends to be loamy. The only time I buy MPC is when it's on half price offer and then I use it as a soil conditioner on beds. Found a few fat stripy snails on my pots and one or two slugs but nothing major. All chucked on the road for squishing.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Ob; when the house is complete and the mess finally gone I shall... get everyone round for a BBQ in the garden.
AND LOCK THE DOOR SO THEY CAN'T COME INSIDE TO MAKE A MESS.
Lawn mower won't start despite my mechanical persuading and we're starting to loose light. Looks like the lawn escapes another day as he lordship won't be around to assist for a few days.
My day off tomorrow has has its plan thrown away, not the boss but his lordship. We were travelling down on Saturday to see his family. Now we're going on Friday night. This means I no longer have a spare evening to prep the hounds dinners for another month.
It also means that no only on my day off will I be going past the window of work but I've less time to look for grandma's birthday gift. I am loath to resort to chocolate and cut flowers.
Someone asked for the photo of my 101 year old Great Aunt on a swing. At the weekend, we were a my aunts Diamond wedding anniversary. I saw the 2nd cousin who took the photo and she is going to send me a copy. I didn't know you got a message from the queen for diamond weddings. She got an A5 size photo and a message. My dad died three months before it would have been my parents diamond wedding. At this sort of age, chocolates and flowers become the norm.

the birds can have what's left of the vine weevils. They do " squish" in the most satisfying manner.
Oh, and the mice have had all the sweet peas. ggrrr
Clari, I take my hat off to you. I'd have had to kill someone, or more than one before now had I been without heat and power .
Hubby has been over in the flat. It wasn't as clean as we'd hoped they'd leave it.
Cuppa and a bit of cake to reward us for our hard work.
Hi folks,
Glad you had a good holiday BL.
Clari, you're really getting spoiled - 4 sockets wow.
Sorry to hear about your infestation Hosta. Hope you sort it out.
Had a busy afternoon cutting back ivy and scarifying lawns, shattered now, might attack more of those grape hyacinths tomorrow.

Clari , does she have a favorito drink ? What nice jams or chutneys
I don't what to buy o/h for birthday soon , as nothing she wants or needs
Much sympathy, Hosta, about the vine weevils. I've got an infestation too. I'll be going through all the pots tomorrow ...
