I think you can probably feel a bit of a twinge in the shoulder that was giving you so much jip a few weeks ago can't you Dove?imageimage

And you've tried to let them know that it's not a good idea to aggravate it by playing tennis this week.

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Well, I had to drive past tennis on my way to the shops so I popped in and they were short of a couple of other players so I played two sessions of best of five, did my shopping and now I'm home and eating lunch ... with the door open to the terrace and the birds singing .... I'll be out there shortly - the back garden is still bathed in sunshine but at this time of year it's in shadow later in the afternoon when the sun has moved over the house ....

    Hi all.

Back from the GP's, bit of a waste of time. Simple analgesics advised. tried to explain I had had this virus on and off most of the winter, "well so has everyone else".

Into the garden now for an afternoon of relaxing.

Thanks for the advice re The Yemen, it is going to be a very difficult decision, but I have some time, as needless to say, they are not inundated with people wanting to go.

Best of both worlds then Dove.

Our promised sunshine is still hiding behind clouds and there's a cold NE breeze.    Not nice.    I've sanded the plasterboard in both parts of the annex and repaired as necessary then went out to move pots from the sheltered southern side of the ruin to the east side of the house where it's easier for me to keep an eye on emerging hostas and other perennials.  Pleased to see that more than 50% of my rose cuttings are producing fresh leaves so fingers crossed they grow into proper shrubs.

Both the weeping and twisted willow cuttings are also growing and so are the shrubs.  Very happy.  Now to move the rest so I can carry on mowing.  OH has been researching his kiwi and says he needs to wait for the flowers to see whether he needs to buy it a male or female partner.  I'm not sure I can cope with him having ambitions to become an under gardener and not just a labourer.

Hi folks, Been out in the garden cutting back ivy and guess what - I saw the first lilly beetleimage.  It was duly squashed.  I'm suprised I found one already, don't have any lillies up yet.

P'doc you need to think long and hard about Yemen.  You haven't been well this winter and it might be better to recover properly before embarking on something so strenuous.

Wonky, bench looking good you'll be setting up a business before long.image

Punkdoc, I'm with the others. Think long and hard.

Why not focus on your OU work, and , more importantly, getting well.

Your skills will always be in demand,

    Warmest wishes .

Turning chilly in the shade now ........... but it's been absolutely beautiful and the birdsong has been absolutely glorious.  Wielding the hoe and dealing with the little weedlings is so satisfying.  image

Now I shall put the kettle on, get the knitting out and see what's going on at Cheltenham ... image

I've been tipping out EX primulas and squishing millions of vine weevil  grubs. I reckon I've lost about 30- 40 plants. image

    Oh 'eck Hosta image ((hugs)).

You were talking yesterday about mpc ... I find the vine weevils love it - they seem to find the grittier loam based stuff makes them feel less comfortable.  I've started using half and half mpc and JI No 2 for a lot of my pots.

    Dovefromabove says:

    Good morning Clari image

Are you plugged in and switched on?

    See original post

Dove: much excitement in the household. We now have FOUR PLUG SOCKETS that work. One for the washing machine, another for the internet box, and the other two for extension leads to trail work lights as required around the building! All temporary fixes but its a start.

The log burner is coming tomorrow morning. I have noted a few things I don't want to see on the works diary that may cause the boss to ask if I can come in anyway. So I'm going to hide up here where he can't find me until 16:00 and I can run for the hills*

*Tesco, and then more mopping down of the house

I need to find my grandmother a gift. She's the kind of person that has everything (including the nearly 30 year old baby bath from her grandson that's sitting in the loft "just in case". Just in case? Is she expecting a baby to be delivered in the post and left on the door step with a note??) She likes watching the garden but isn't hands on and if I provide any more bird feeders I think the blue tits will have heart attacks.

WHY DIDN'T I BREAK ANYTHING WHEN I WAS THERE AT THE WEEKEND?? It would have been so easy to trip over and break the toaster, or one of the many vacuum cleaners or SOMETHING practical and easy to replace as a gift! image

Hosta I hope the damage hasn't spread too far and that you've plenty of wildlife that will come and dispose of those horrid things.
