Hello, Been a busy time for us. Went on bee course last night with sister in law and on the way back I had a message from daughter to say her waters had broke. (Not due for 3 weeks.) To cut a long story short she was back home just after 4.00 am with her new baby girl. Talk about getting a move on and it was her first.
I am a new gardener and very keen to learn, I am growing mainly veg but also some flowers in containers. Very excited to give it all a go and see what I get.
I've been good and been round with the real vacuum cleaner upstairs - not the bloody Dyson - and moved furniture in Possum's room so I can start to paint two of her walls a paler shade. The dark grey makes it all too funereal even on a sunny day like today. She arrives for 3 weeks at around midnight on Friday so have to crack on regardless of ribs.
Took time out to re-plant my 3 new bare root roses in the flowery buckets with added microrhizal fungae this time. Hope they like it.

Welcome Jamie, hope you like it here. I expect you've gathered that this thread is for chatting, if you want to ask about plants you can start a thread and people will try to answer your question.
OH has bought me a large pot for my Eden rose and a bag of compost but I'll put earth and manure in too. It's stone coloured, like the house wall it's going against.
Congratulations to Fritillary and daughter!
Most French houses I know have cluster flies in one room, usually facing west. They come in to hibernate and wake up in Spring. Mine go in a spare bedroom but I don't know where they go in between coming in and going out.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Wrote this yesterday for Topbird in case you are still interested.

Hello Jamie - welcome to the forum.
You've picked the barmy-army thread to start your Gardeners World journey but we're harmless (really) (well, mainly)
Your bare roots will love that fungi Obx. It seems to be very good stuff.
