Haven't found a French garden centre with any sort of café and none in Wallonia when we were there but some of the Flemish ones had seriously good cafés and even brasseries.

Currently making a butternut squash curry for tonight's dinner and debating whether or not to add chick peas.

I have Wonky.   Don't like cooked spinach in any form except a very occasional sag bhaji but love baby spinach raw in salads.

Just having a coffee then going out to sand the worktop which is lurking in the garage.   Getting quite wet out there now but not seriously windy yet.  I have been very good while waiting for paint to dry and cleaned 2 pairs of secateurs, my trusty handfork and OH's new pitchfork and given them a dose of WD40.

Jukes Holland is very good tonight - Sam Smith and U2 amongst others. No wonder we get to bed so late.

  • Bit miffed.......howling and gale force winds here. Ventured out to place the black waste bin for collection and wedged it in a bit, next to a wall ,to stop it from blowing over. They came...slowed a bit ( admit the bin was not in its normal place, but still in view) then revved up and continued up the lane! As we are in a no through lane I knew that after collecting from the farm they would have to come back pass. So once again I went out as quickly as I could possibly hobble ( post op still) and stuck the bin out further to ensure that they saw it .......and went back in. Once again they came , slowed very slightly (almost looked like they were debating as to if they should stop!) before zooming off!! Now I wouldn't mind if it was the green bin...but not the black, we compost most kitchen waste but there are some wrapped up bones from cooked meats and we only have  fortnightly collections. Looking on the positive side..at least its not summerimage

Take care and keep safe everyone x

  • Its a bit odd here had torrential rain at 8:30 lasted all of 2 min. We are getting intermittent strong gusts but Sun is shining more than last 3 days! Then went to shops nearly blown over in car park, bins all over pavements on way back. Spent 1/2 hr & half a reel of Duck tape securing the protection for my two large potted lemons under kitchen widow. Just in Suburban N London.

Oh dear just heard on  radio news a woman has been killed by flying debris so guess we should not moan.

    Stay safe all.

  • That's naughty of them Flowers image  I'm sure we all understand that their job is fraught with difficulties today, but they're not being paid to drive around the countryside just looking at bins.

Our bin men have been really conscientious  today - I was pleasantly surprised to see them taking as much care as they could to stop bins and rubbish blowing about.
