Hello.  We went tile hunting this morning.  3 places to visit before they close for lunch.   Nothing interesting at Big Mat in Angles; 2nd one doesn't exist any more; 3rd just a tiler, not tiles and so we ended up at a DIY store and found what we need for the annex.   Re-think for new shower room.

Then a raid on the SM (there's an interesting euphemism!) for kitten and dog food and some human bits too.   No birdie peanuts anywhere and still no fat blocks with insects anywhere either.   Humph.

Now to order a polytunnel and then go and spray some weeds.

Who saw Blair raising his ugly head on Brexit?  What a turnip!  Bit late now to explain what Brexit involves.   Patronising git.  And of course he's absolutely trustworthy.........

Good job the sun is shining.

Is La Roche sur Yon anywhere near you? There is Lapeyre and Leroy Merlin.

Having a break from pruning the grapevine over the hall door. Have pruned 3 shrub roses.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I can't think of anyone more unlikely to convince a single Brexiteer that to remain in the EU would be a good thing - I mean, honesty and sound judgement are what he's famous for ... right??? image

At least Cameron was only arrogant and stupid ... image

    Politicians - don't you just love 'em.....image

I think Jon Sopel was very restrained and diplomatic. I wonder if at any point he thought  '**** the job, I'm going to punch him in the face....'

Just heard that Peter Skellern has died. A nice man. Doubt anyone will be saying that about Trump when the sniper reaches the grassy knoll.... image

I think Esmeralda Billhooks suits you Dove. Get down the registrar and change it. I'd like to be Bunty Proudfoot ( a customer of our's - I kid you not!) or Anastasia Beaverhausen (Will and Grace)  image

Busy - 20kms to la Roche-S-Y but tiler chappy suggested Big Mat as a first port of call.   Since we needed to raid Leclerc we then headed to Luçon via the other addresses  cos we prefer it to either of the Roche versions.

We'll try La Roche on Monday.

Haven't pruned my roses yet but found Cosmos sat in one of the rose pots chewing buds yesterday.  Shooed him off and gave the roses and clems a liquid feed to keep them going till I get beds.

Must remind OH to prune "his" grapevine.

Well, we didn't get the rain, but we could see it falling down the south end of the valley.image Not fair. Why should they get it but not us. What have we done wrong!

im packing up for the night. Bit disgruntled because our 'regular visitor' turned up and I didn't see the end of Michael Portillo travelling around your south west on little lines And going down a coal mine. Der.

    night all.

I've recorded the James Martin progs but only discovered he was doing it after 10 of them had been on.   Boo!

I've been hacking - dangerous when I get a pair of loppers in my mitts.  Decided it was too late to spray so went and watered all my treasures in pots and then got out my trusty pruning saw to remove 3 thicker branches I couldn't get with the loppers the other day and then went to see what OH was doing with the overgrown bamboo and said new loppers.

He trotted off out with the dogs so I have now done radical surgery on a hibiscus and an as yet unidentified tree that needed its crown lifting and the overgrown fig.  OH now has a lovely pile of stuff to gather up and feed to his chipper.   I hope the fig is shocked into producing some fruit.

Kittens have been up half the trees in the garden and are now fast asleep.  No doubt they'll wake up at bedtime.

    Shame about Peter Skellern.

    See original post

Probably several times Fairy. Either that or perhaps he thought " You pompous, arrogant tw*t" like I did...

Sad to hear about Peter Skellern. I must be getting old. All the theme music to my yoof is dying offimage

Have been out pruning roses and getting generally distracted (and not a little overwhelmed) by the number of jobs that need doing out there. Managed to stop myself getting too carried away with pruning other shrubs - still time for plenty of frosts this winter.

Have just found a fence post snapped in the last strong winds which explains why one of the panels was looking a little drunkimage

Have pruned 4 shrub roses and finished the grape. Lovely day, the washing actually dried on the line.

My meat, bacon, cheese and pie delivery came from Ireland, but the pies were from Yorkshire. 2 men have set up a delivery business. Look forward to trying the roast beef, they don't hang it much here, often a bit tough. Can't find back bacon here either and the sausages are different. They had lost 1 of my 2 pots of Jersey cream, another thing unheard of here.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
