I saw a bluetit inspecting one of our boxes today as well - must be something in the air ...

I think it maybe a little small, Hosta, on seeing the bluetit at the entrance. But isn't it lovely to have an interested tenant!

All the info I can find says 25mm for blue tits and that's the size of the hole. I've noticed birds pecking at entrance holes on bird boxes before, even those which have been used previously.

I expect it's OK then, feathers can flatten. Maybe it needs several viewings before making an offer!

  • Yes , 'our' bluetits always do a bit of pecking around the entrance each year, even when they've used the box before. You know the house proud types Hosta, nothings ever perfect enough image

  • We had nuthatches in a nestbox years ago.  They made the hole smaller by plastering it with mud... is that "putting your own stamp" on a property, perhaps?  image

Having read your clever comments I decided to take a peek on Google... Guess which vitamin people with my diagnosis are so very often deficient in? D. Almost others. I do take a supplement that contains vitamin D. I must remember to mention that if I am able to get an appointment.

His lordship is out tonight so I am having a quiet evening with a hot water bottle and my tablet to download a film.

Wonky so sorry to hear the job has been short lived, their loss!

Clari, wise not to go down the "drug" route, get out as much as you can and (from personal experience) try and cut the sugar down a wee bit

Worried about the family today, so what's new?!

  • I am albino so I have to avoid the sun or I burn quite seriously.  I take vitamin D tablets - 10 a week in the Winter and 7/week in the Summer.  Since I have been taking the tablets I have slept better and I have been much less prone to colds.

There are four varieties of albinism, it can effect eyes, skin, hair and very rarely the blood.  I have the first three - lucky old me.

Vitamin D is one of the very few supplements that are actually beneficial [ sorry being a didactic medic ]

Many people in Northern Climes may be deficient, so dietary supplements are useful, not just for bones, but significant role in mental health too.

Not meaning too preach, sorry if I am.
