Wonky - you should sign on anyway if only to get your stamp paid for retirement many moons hence.     Presumably you've paid your taxes so are entitled and it's not at all shameful even tho I can understand it may feel humiliating.

Good luck with the job hunt and I hope you do get a gardening position.    When I was made redundant in 1989 I used a government set-up scheme to start a small garden business - not cutting grass or hedges but rescuing and re-vamping neglected gardens for people I used to work with or knew thru the riding club.   Did it 3 days a week and played the other two so I didn't lose the fun factor.   Used some of the spare time to sow and grow babies I would then sell to clients.

Thanks Lirio image plenty of luck...just all bad!

Obelixx, id love to start a gardening round full time but the economy isn't in the same position as it was, no one in this area seams to have the money to spend, or the government incentives and programs to help start up, but I'm still looking into it. My friends gardening round is approved by age UK which is a great source. image

That sounds good.  Maybe people with holiday homes that need maintenance?  Ask at holiday letting agencies?  Could be a bit seasonal tho.

Oh Wonky! What a pain in the rump. I'm sorry to hear about the job: I hope you find something to tide you over a the least until that special job arrives.

As for the car: at least no one was hurt. We've had three car crashes out side the museum this week due to drivers not paying attention. I'm considering setting up a recovery company.

I'm feeling very tired. I seem to be always tired. I'm not sure if its because it is winter, or whether I'm not absorbing the right / enough vitamins, or whether there is a lingering bug my body can't shift. I don't feel ill. Just tired. I'm going to TRY (ha ha ha) to have a quiet weekend but I may need to start preparing myself to do battle with the doctors receptionist to see if I can get a blood test done to check what is happening. Unfortunately last time I was like this rather than check my body for physical problems (of which it has plenty) the GP wanted to slap me on anti - depressants.

Yes yes, I know they're the experts not me. But this body doesn't come with an operating manual and certainly doesn't conform to normal so I do wonder whether after 31 years of operating it perhaps I know better!

Anti-depressants too easy and save looking for the real problem.  You are right to resist them.  Maybe, as you are indoors a lot, you are suffering vitamin D deficiency?

Clari, I was put on anti depressants at fifteen...they were all the rage at the time and I even said to the doctor isn't feeling c**p a normal response to s**t happening....they didn't make me feel better, they just made me not feel! Took ten years before I realised i was an automaton! Not saying they don't have their place alongside other methods, but a fix, I don't think so. Personal experience only x

he / she spent ages pecking around the hole.

    Is it too small?

    Is that normal?

Should I take a bit of sandpaper and maybe try to make it a wee bit wider?

    Or just leave well alone?
