Clari - youth work eg scouts can be very rewarding BUT also very time-consuming. . . weekend activities, week-long camping holidays, meetings etc

You want to have some time for yourself especially when you get into your garden.

Topbird: surprisingly (considering how delicate my stomach is now it is a host to medical problems) sprouts don't affect me that way. Which is a shame because we are surrounded with wind farms and it would be nice to be able to barter with British Gas about getting my bills reduced if I "helped out" image

Joyce: I am hoping that by having something else I will be able to keep my working life to a sensible balance rather than spending my evenings and weekends doing things for work. Before I had my partner I was out most evenings / weekends with Saint John Ambulance and volunteering to work the steam engine, yet somehow found the time to have a lovely little garden, bake my own breads, stay a size 8, grow my own vegetables, work a full time job, and shockingly socialise regularly. Now I seem to achieve nothing of an evening. I can't even claim to be one of those people with immaculately tidy houses so that I could pretend my time was spent carefully polishing the dogs muddy foot prints off the silver.

I don't even know how he gets his paw prints that high up. Does he balance off the stairs and leap?

Watching the Hairy Bikers and someone BBQing mackerel on the beach in St Ives ... green with envy ...

I've been reclining on the sofa too. I think the cold is gradually clearing up, eyes are sore but drops have helped already.

Has anyone seen a programme called "Forgotten"? I'm looking for something for tonight.

OH has gone off for another go at getting his haircut. They were full on Saturday and shut this morning, so not much luck yet. I hope he's not getting bored while I've been so hopeless.

Having time on my hands I was looking around the Forum. There seems to be another chat thread. I'd wondered where people like Star Gaze Lily and Runnybeak had gone, I rather missed them, but they are on the other thread. There don't seem to be any men on it. I like men joining in image image

    See original post

We're going to be staying in St Ives June / July - camp site within walking distance of town centre. Really looking forward to beaches & sunsets, Newlyn crab butties, fresh sardines / pilchards, clotted cream with everything and all the art galleries & studios. Have been many times before (especially as a child) but never actually stayed there. Should be goodimage

Glad to hear you're starting to feel a bit better BLimage

Tax return has been submitted. My tax affairs are very simple at the moment but I still hate filling in my return. I'm not sure I'll be able to do it online if they become more complex - the 'Help' sections are rubbish - lots of broken links.image

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Topbird - we go every year. It's our favourite place. Do you know the Rum & Crab Shack?
