Bit too hot for me, Hosta, but glad you are enjoying it.

My bug started on the 27th and has gone a bit up and down like yours, LG. Was feeling better yesterday, but now I've got conjunctivitis as well. Just been to the Pharmacy for drops.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Maybe the journey tired you out a bit, BL? Conjunctivitis is at least usually quite quick to clear up if you're careful about towels etc and have some drops. Best thing I ever found for conjunctivitis was breastmilk - miracle cure! But not been available on tap for some time... Hope you feel better really soon.

The vulture thing sounds, er, interesting Hosta. Not sure how I'd feel about being on a beach were vultures were accustomed to getting treats!

Its not a forest , Pat. Just 5 acres or so that has been left for 80 years or so. Part of it is a disused quarry , but looking at the trees reminds you of the way that nature abhors a vacuum , and any piece of land left on its own returns to the wild wood. I've been lucky to live in a built up area, with ready access to major road networks, but pretending I was in the country which is where I want to be.  I've known for a long time that this day would come. When the estate around the back went in the two access roads (currently dead ends) were put in. Mrs N asked the council why.

"Thats for the roads to go around that area madam, it's designated for 60 houses. "

She said     "Over my dead body"

    He said     "Precisely madam"    image

97 was a good age by anyones standards, so the time has come. It wont be this month, but probably before the end of 2017.

I have a Viburnum bodnantense Dawn that smells wonderful at the moment. I must cut a few sprigs for the house before the really cold weather hits, and pot up a runner or two.  I also found a hellebore in flower. image Spring is on the way.

This virus going round is awful.  Lots of hot drink everyone, stay in and stay warm.

Five acres is enough, Fidget. As far as I'm concerned, I can't help wondering what will happen to all the wildlife.

Anyway, it's after midnight here, so I'm turning off. It's still raining, yay!.

i must admit I had a good laugh at HRH. She hates going out in rain, but her bladder won the day. She kept as close to the house under a bit of shelter from the eaves, but still got wet enough to now have a wet dog smell on her bed beside our bed.image

    night all.

Ours don't mind Pat, but then they do love a good rub down afterwards.    Drizzle here now.   OH's problem for walkies as I have banged my toes and am resting them for a few days as I seem to have cracked one.

Cleaning all done with OH's help and house aired without losing a kitten although I found Minstrel all roly-poly upstairs on an outside window sill so brought her in and closed the shutter just in case she's caught Cosmos clumsyitis.   He's the most accident prone kitten I've ever met.

Enjoy your snooze Dove.  Hope you clear up in time to enjoy Norfolk Busy.

Afternoon - grey wet and miserable here but plenty of indoor jobs to do so I shan't be bored. Electrics will be off for several hours tomorrow (tree cutting in the village) so best get any computer tasks done this afternoon.

Soup sounds nice Dove - can you request extra chilli and ginger? - blast those sinuses? A big bowl of that while soaking in a nice hot bath - kill or cureimage

Have been in the office this morning. First prolonged 'other people' contact since Christmas - was on high alert for lurgy sufferers so I could keep a wide berth if need be.

Time to file my tax return - after another cuppa tea and a slice of Christmas cake with cheese..image

Afternoon all. Suffering a post 60 small children, trying to do too many roles in this museum, generally still tired from camp, slump. I have 90 small children in tomorrow so I wont be pushing myself too hard this afternoon at work.

The fish pie has already been made (I will text his lordship when to put it in the oven in a bid to continue our spell of health and frugal eating and not stop at the fish and chip shop on my way home) but I really must perk myself up as it is my first meeting with a local scout group that are crying out for help. I said I would go and do what I could (if I am suitable). It will be nice to escape the house for something other than work! I did look at my local horticultural group, WI, and historical society, but I fear my witty humour that went over the tops of them and fact that I brought the average age down to 93 made me thinks that perhaps, just perhaps, I am not quite ready to be a grown up yet.

Besides with scouts you get to play with knives and fire (and canal boats, and night hikes, and generally all the fun stuff).

As an aside: I have rather a lot of brussel sprouts in the fridge: can anyone suggest something to do with them?

    Re sprouts.

Can be prepped and frozen ready to use like frozen peas.

Or can be used in soups, stir fries and salads.

Or you could eat them and start a wind farm...imageimage
