My mum's neighbour had a eucalyptus pruned back last year and the fresh growth was beautiful. It was particularly good when her Nerines came up beside it. A very unusual combination and very striking especially when the sun shone on it.
It's a good day for the footie here GW. Bright and crisp and foot freezing. Just how I remember it. Coldest day of my life was spent at Inver Park watching Linfield at Larne. You should come over and try it...it'll make Lincoln feel balmy!!!
I agree Dove. They do make a distinctive shape. I've not bothered to work out the species of the various Eucalypts on our place. There are so many. And classifying them requires both flowers and Gum nuts, and they are too high to bother about.
Back from my holiday in the UK, hardly any chance to access the internet so apologies for being AWOL. Charlie had a fabulous time seeing all his old friends, I enjoyed it too but made me very emotional at times and am still feeling a bit 'wobbly', 2017 seems very daunting with all it's challenges ahead. One day at a time I think is the best way to look at it.
Anyway, I hope you have all had a fabulous time and perhaps when I get through the mountain of washing I can find time to read back on everything you've all been up to.

Hi DD. I haven't seen you around so I assumed you were doing your usual blue...fly impersonation. I was right!
Glad to hear you've had a bit of a holiday to get your bearings. I hope all is well with you and Charlie and the tough times are over. Onwards and upwards in 2017.
The less said about how I'm feeling this morning the better. Going to go for a little drizzly NYD ramble in the hope of shaking off this headache at least (drugs have been taken to help it on its way). With calendar mix ups before Christmas and being ill between Christmas and New Year, none of the outings and activities I promised the kids have materialised so I'm feeling guilty (I generally try not to do guilt, it's never productive, but have succombed). They go back to school on Tuesday so tomorrow is feeling rather pressured!
Smiley face on, time to get dressed. Have a wonderful day all. I'll count my flowers once I'm suitably attired. Just the two, I think - but they make me happy nonetheless.

I thought you were just going to MIL for the day, Dove. Are you staying?

Plant pauper, I bet the eucalyptus you spoke about was E. gunnii. They have rather distinctive colour and shape on the young leaves.
Good morning and Happy New Year to all.
