Liri, hungry birds on the fence and bushes make you feel guilty.....they often get fed before we do.

Slight frost, blue sky and sun so a good day for Fairy's hillsimage

Morning all.  -1.5C this morning so definitely warmer than yesterday.  That's a relief as I have fancy, shrubby salvias in pots along the south side of the house and don't want them frozen too long.   I hope the herbaceous ones in the ground are OK.

Either way it's still top cold and frozen for gardening but I'm planning to do some measuring and sketching out of ideas.   Someone is coming to talk fences on Monday and maybe they have a handy bulldozer in their arsenal as they do pools too.

Apart from an annual trim I haven't had my hair styled in years but I do remember in my early 30s going for a local haircut in Harrow and having to go to a designer salon in Mayfair to get it fixed.   These days I keep it long so I can tie it back to see what I'm doing when planting, sowing, weeding, painting......

Glad you're feeling better Dove.  Hope you are too Busy.

Have a good day everyone whether flopping, partying, hiking or whatever.

Back for a cuppa before we start.

Popped into Waitrose after the hairdresser and one of my colleagues said " Love your new hairstyle. Makes you look 10 years younger" I love her.

The sun is just starting to poke through, but it's still pretty cold out there. 3C

Polytunnel went down to -0.7C last night. brrr

Hosta ... you must look like a teenager then image

Back from an excursion to the farm shop - lots of apples, a lovely cauli, a Savoy cabbage, celery, locally made creme fraiche, a couple of baking and other potatoes,  ham, eggs, bread, sausages, a piece of belly of pork to roast tomorrow and a farmhouse loaf.

Now I shall put the kettle on and make something for lunch ...

Belly pork for us tomorrow too Dove.   Whole sea bream today.

Since I can't go on walkies or garden I've been googling for info on polytunnels, fencing and pergolas and arches.   Increasing urge to do it ourselves rather than get someone in for fencing.   Just need to convince OH.

Internet slow and my typing keeps not appearing on the page.

Just been filling up horses water with watering cans, outside taps still frozen, although it was +7° this afternoon.

Same here but no horses, fortunately.   I tried washing a window trough for some bulbs but had to bring it indoors.   Sounds a bit of a slog Busy.

The kittens are both stretched out luxuriating on a folded towel on the kitchen radiator where they've been sat for ages avidly watching the birds at the feeders.   Totally fascinated so they'll probably need collars and bells when they are finally allowed out.

I have made 3 kilos of lime pickle for OH.  Should keep him going for a while.

We have also measured the intended veggie plot.  25m x 30m with a donkey shed at a slight angle near one corner and a slab of concrete in a daft place further back and also at an angle.   Bit bigger than I thought so now I'm boggled trying to plan the space to be productive but attractive.

Evening all - back from the hill, and what a little cracker it was too image

Minus 3 when I left - sorry Dove - didn't have time to scrape your car too. Lots of fog on the way, and I think it didn't lift at all in many areas, especially central belt. No probs up at Kinlochleven - better than some summer days we get! Glorious blue sky and the watery sun was pleasantly warm enough when you were in the sheltered bits of the hill. Chilly up top and no shelter, so I couldn't hang around too long, especially with gloves off. Fab though, and views to die for.

Are you bringing home a pony from the New Forest chicky?  image image

I didn't intentionally not have the heating on Hosta - the pressure had dropped.  Had brekkie while it warmed up a bit. You've never mentioned that you hate the cold....image

It's on now anyway - it was only about 1 degree when I came in. I shall have a shower and a cuppa now, and see what you've all been doing, before I see if there's anything for dinner...if I can be bothered image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
