Morning all. Have to admit I'm still not 100% and increasingly down about it. I'm loads better than I  was, which I should be grateful for, but am so fed up with feeling 'a bit rough' when I have so much I want to do this week (not least, catching up on all the things I couldn't do for the past fortnight!). Am going to try pushing myself a bit more today, rather than taking it easy, and will see what happens.

We went to Egypt in June 2002 and it was well into the 40s every day. Being on holiday and focusing only on trips, drinking enough water and enjoying ourselves made it much more bearable than if we were at home tryjng to get on with normal life. My older daughter was born in the heatwave of August 2003 - in the 30s the whole time, which made being a new parent full of all the warnings about not letting babies overheat quite interesting! We had a baby monitor with a temperature guage which beeped if the room went above the recommended level, so of course it would have beeped the whole time, including overnight. We had to switch it off and remind ourselves that babies are born in hot countries too.

Glad your forecast has improved, Pat. And hope that everyone with bad weather forecast (it doesn't seem too extreme here, we must be missing it) is okay and can batten down the hatches / get to work (and back) alright.

    Morning allimage

I would like some extra degrees of heat as we are expecting snow later and it's cold and windy here.

Obelixx - hope you find the kitchen to suit your needs.

    Morning all.

I love my Falcon oven that I bought in Darty. Is there a Darty near you, obelixx? Falcon is Rangemaster, made by Aga. It's the name they give it when sold in France. Not cheap, though.

We are going to Jack and the Beanstalk tonight. Hope I don't cough.

Very windy here. We have just had a bit of a squall of rain.I don't intend going out. I had lots of plant porn arrive between xmas and new year, so I may peruse those.

I made a huge pot of veg soup yesterday with a pumpkin I bought for 69p after halloween.  Some will get eaten this week. The rest can go in the freezer, although the old fridge is still freezing even though I switched it off after xmas. Stuff in it has been frozen for two weeks now. Frozen onions slice up easy enough, bit watery, but no problem in soup really. I guess it doesn't like being in the garage.

    Keep safe and warm, folks.

I typed my post just after obelixx, but son rang so I didn't send it straight away.

I've been feeling like that too, LG. Felt so much better yesterday, then felt awful in the evening. It's a pain in the neck isn't it? We had things planned for this week in England.

Glad your Chromebook is working again, Liri. It's so frustrating when there are computer problem.

Glad your 'puter is sorted out Liri. Always a worry when something like that happens. Knowing a tame techie person is a good thing!

Bit of a rough night. Couldn't sleep 'cos of sore throat & headache & just feeling a bit strange. Thought maybe I was starting with The Lurgy - but this morning I'm just tired from lack of sleep & otherwise ok. Still think this current bug sounds a lot like what I had 2 years ago. Took weeks to shift it completely but I'm hoping it's left me with some defences to avoid this one.

Off to SM soon - then time to do our accounts - deep joy!

    Hi all.

Glenys, sorry you've got the heat as well.

I'm glad the sick ones are beginning to feel better.

good news about the computer too.

Cant concentrate because we're watching a biography of John Lennon. It's a bit riveting.

    catch you later.

BL, LG et al, at least we're in good company - sounds like half the country is down with it.

Ive got a special trip to London planned for the end of the month and I really want to be well for that - I'm not going to rush things - I've seen what post viral fatigue can do.

Good luck with the cooker-hunt Obelixx.

DD keep your chin up. I'm not totally up to speed but seems your OH is just being his old " control freak" self . Stand up to him, tell him it's NOT about Charlie, it's about HIM. . Charlie seems a very level headed little chap. Explain to him what's going on. GGRRR Great news about progress re Chateau . Keep focusing on the postive things. and as others have said, feel free to rant in here . We understand. xx
