Sorry I haven't checked in for a while Obelixx. I assume you're well asleep, now. I'm very glad that I don't have your lovely cuddly and helpful, kittens to help with my knitting.
ive literally stayed inside all day except for very quick excursions to pick a few tomatoes that had coloured up and to escort HRH out for a toilet walk. Air con set to 24. The weather channel says we can expect 39 tomorrow .
Got a garden club talk tonight from our local galanthophile I predict that snowdrops will feature heavily. He normally brings plants for sale along too, and I can never quite resist. Luckily his prices are capped at £3 a pot, so shouldn't break the bank
Phew! that is hot Pat, too hot or me I'm afraid. I keep well covered in the sun, when gardening I have a huge sun parasol that is staked into the ground next to me as I tend the borders.
Obelixx hope you enjoyed the programme, I thought it was very good.......not too sure that I would like Monty to prune my fruit trees though?
Sounds good Chicky...let us know what you end up buying, at those prices you can't go wrong!
Keep safe Clari, sounds bad up your way. All is calm down here at the moment.
Have a good day, or in Pat's case a good evening x
Monring all/afties Pat - I don't envy you that heat either. I don't function too well at temps over about 20. Just as well I live in Scotland - our average summer temp is below that!
I have experienced 40 degrees - in Florence. I couldn't live there, beautiful though it is. I'd hardly be able to go outside
No danger of that today here anyway. Horrible night - wind kept me awake and it's lashing rain now. Snow to come tonight. Oh well - that's winter.
Hope there's no trees down round here Clari - tthere's a tree lined minor road to negotiate when I leave the house. Think most of the dodgy ones all came down in the last wild spell just before Christmas. At least I don't normally cross the Forth Road Bridge on my commute - lorry flipped through the night so it'll be closed most of the morning.
Have you got several pots earmarked chicky?
I watched the Monty prog last night too. I quite enjoyed it. That wall was beautifully done. I can understand how that woman found it difficult though, even if she was a bit irritating. Going from one extreme to another in terms of her space, and in the circumstances. I hope she enjoys what she's created. The young couple's plot was lovely. very stylish and ideal for them all. They worked very hard to achieve it too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hi Everyone I am like you Pat indoors doing nothing as our temp is 37c today. I hope every is getting over the lungy as it sounds really bad. My garden is looking dead as its too hot for the flowers and we are on strict water rationing. When we lived in the uk we use to caravan at Stonehaven and my grandparents lived in Glasgow. when you talk about places in the uk i really know some of them. We moved to Port Elizabeth in 1981.Enjoy your day
We visited Uluru in Jan 2001. 40C in the shade but bearable because it was dry heat and we didn't have to work. I can take a lot of dry heat. It's humid heat that floors me.
Enjoyed MD and did feel for that woman down-sizing to such a small plot and am pleased she's found a way through to enjoy her new garden. Monty was very good with her. The young couple are amazing; so full of energy and zest for life and a great set of friends and family to help. Flowers - I have done something similar but a bit more artistic to an albizzia julibrissin because every single plant underneath it was dead apart from a few tiny bulbs. The canopy needed thinning to let in light and rain. I hope they get some decent apples and not just a load of water shoots.
Grey and drismal to day but calm. We're off to look at new kitchens. I've tried but this one is badly planned and the cooker is a nightmare. Who would install a 90cm oven that runs on bottled gas? It can't bake and it can't roast and it doesn't cope at all when I'm using the hob too. It has to go.
Keep safe everyone, whether dealing with strong winds, high heat or lurgies.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Sun, showers and wind here - but I'm happily typing on the Chromebook again, having re-installed ad blockers (2, including one which claims to spot malware) and re-set passwords etc. The man in the computer shop I used in the end (a bus ride away in Halifax) was really helpful, especially in telling me I wasn't stupid not to know what to do (!), and explaining what I should do next. It took him 3 attempts to remove the offending page, so I didn't feel so bad about not being able to do it myself. And he charged me... nothing!!! - just an (optional) contribution to their RSPCA collecting tin. Their customer service strategy is working, though. OH is planning to take a trip to Halifax with his old laptop, which has an important music-writing program on it, because it won't switch on; I suspect his repair might cost more than a donation, though.
Pat & Glenys, hope you manage to stay out of the heat. Anything above about 22 is too hot for me...
Hope the weather isn't too unfriendly for the rest of you.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

II don't think I've ever experienced 39. That sounds like I'd boil alive!
Many trees down here; be alert if you need to leave the house today. I feel for the 60 children booked to come to the museum by bus today.
Good morning all
Clari - it'll be an adventure for them
Keep your heads down folks, it sounds windy up there (it's a bit blustery down here
)
I'm feeling a bit more human this morning - still coughing like a good 'un ...
but i think there's light at the end of the tunnel. Hope others are feeling brighter too

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning!

The prediction has been amended on tonight's news - will only get to 34. Not sure whether to clap my hands or start to crawl under the air con again.
i also don't envy you the very cold weather. I like it just right - like goldilocks.
