We've got a lovely sunny day today, not too hot yet. Interesting that even though there is no prediction of rain until the end of the week, we've got Black Cockatoos screaming from our pine trees which is a guaranteed warning of rain. It'll be worth watching to see if they've got it wrong this time.

In between hanging washing on the line and various watering tasks in the garden, I've been watching the Tour Down Under. I must admit the dulcet tones of Phil Leggit and Paul Sherwin are a wonderful contrast to the screaming commentators on American Ninja Warriors that we watched last night.  It's almost enough to stop us watching the show. Hubby has taken to hitting the mute button when they get going with their stupid comments.

Hi Pat...can't sleep so I am up and watching the tennis from your side of the world. Seems unbelievable doesn't it? We lived in Africa when I was a child; sometimes we had to leave Dad behind whilst we visited my Granny in Kent. My mother would book telephone calls and we would travel to the Post Office just off Trafalgar Square to talk to him !!

I like the idea of a Black Cockatoo weatherwatch. image

Hi Daisy, I haven't checked in for a while, so I assume you eventually nodded off. I don't watch the tennis, but it always make the headlines here, as you can imagine.

The bike race was wonderful. Richie Porte blitzed them on the last climb! There's just tomorrow for the final, so we hope he can hold his lead and be the winner. It finishes a bit like the Tour de France with the last day a sort of already sorted, but I suppose something could happen to spoil it.

Morning anyone who's up and afties Pat. Can you send one of those cockatoos over? If they scream when it's going to rain, they'd get sore throats in Scotland! Maybe not recently, as it's been uncommonly dry this winter.

Glad it's not too hot for you - my heating hadn't come on this morning, pressure had dropped, so it's a bit chilly! Having my porridge first then a shower once it's warmed up a bit image

Frosty here after a damp evening so i'll need to scrape the car. Bit of mist and fog about but it's supposed to clear - where I'm heading as well. Fingers crossed.image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Morning all.

Fairy!! "heating not on"???? Mine has been on 24/7 since we got back, AND the woodburner at night. Have I mentioned I hate being cold??

Off to hairdressers this morning to repair the damage done in The Gambia. Lovely lady, but I'm quite sure she'd never cut "white" hair before, bless'er.  I could have lived with it out there, but not over here, so some remedial action is required.

Hopefully finish moving the woodchip to-day,that'll be about 40 cubic metres done. Busy busy busy.

Hi all. Sorry you're so cold. Dove are you feeling a bit better?  Hosta, I think you're going to have to show us some photos to prove you've moved all that woodchip. It's not willow, I hope. image I've been told it has a habit of sending up shoots when you're not looking.

Fairy, are you going walking today?

Pat, so far it seems mostly Holly. Lovely and light to move . I've been using it to resurface the bank beside the lake . It had settled over the years so we're just making the top nice an flat again. I'll take a photo when it's done.  Very pleased with the progress so far.
