Lilly Pilly that made me laugh - I like my alternative name and am thinking of adopting it. 'L in the garden' works for me (it's not my name but my profession that begins with L, but since I'm leaving my job in April I'll be more in the garden than the L).
I didn't realise that you hadn't been before - how exciting! I'm sure it will be very different and possibly a bit difficult, but if you've got family there to help you out it'll be an adventure. And so worthwhile. Bon voyage!

'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Had quite a good night and feeling I may be able to venture out. Eyes are a lot better too. Want to buy a floor lamp. The sitting room lighting is very bright, in the evening we turn it off and have a table lamp, but then it's not bright enough and I can't read.
But plumber is coming to check the boiler, end of the morning.

A big thank you to all who have commented on my difficulties both on here and via PM's. You are all extremely supportive and I do really appreciate your comments and am taking note of all the very sound advice.
I have had to go into Limoges today for a very important meeting regarding the 'Chateau de Gateau'. I didn't think I could face it, I didn't think I could go, even at 7:30 this morning. As I woke up I was ready to hide back under the duvet. But I went, I managed the meeting like a professional business woman, I received some excellent feedback and I have - at last, finally found somebody, and not just somebody but the right person in the right department, who is going to help me with the French paperwork for the bank - for free. It wasn't a lot to ask, I have been knocking on doors for 5 months trying to find that person, it's no wonder I feel the way I do. Anyway, it is a small victory in what will probably be a very long war, but it's a big step for me, particularly the way I feel at the moment. I am still going to follow the advice of the doctor, life shouldn't be this difficult to face each day and I need every available ounce of armour available. Right now though I am off for a lie down.
Thanks again too for your caring and encouraging words. You are a fabulous bunch.

Great to have something positive DD. We're all with you in spirit. I think maybe you should try a new approach to your OH - 1st answer to any ideas or requests or suggestions should be No. And the 2nd and maybe 3rd before you progress to "I'll think about it" and then give yourself time to decide if it's good for you. This last one clearly isn't so tell him that on reflection you have changed your mind and then stay firm. He'll bully you but stay firm. Rant and scream on her if it helps.
That cake certainly looks more chapeau than gateau Hazel.
Quiet day here. I've been reading and pottering and thinking about kitchens. Now to draw it up to scale on A3 paper since the online modelling system is eensy teeny weeny in scale and won't let me have 2 water supplies. It also believes dishwashers live under or next to sinks and ours doesn't. Obviously a man-made programme.
Must go and pot up the chilli jam.
