You've all been very chatty already! image

I got the afternoon off - not much doing as it's a holiday here anyway, apart from the person who faffed around before Christmas wanting samples done and a photo of them sent, which we did right away, then waited till this morning to order them - but wants them tomorrow. If she'd ordered them before we stopped for Christmas they'd have been done and sent and she would have had them last week. Not sure we even have post today. People are so disorganised. image

Hope you're better for your trip BL. Nothing worse than feeling lousy when you have to travel.

Know what you mean about the light for painting obelixx, but if I don't get on with it, it'll seem an even bigger chore to tackle, and will cut into garden and walking time.  I'm quite lucky because the back of the house gets a lot of light, and I can open all the doors to get plenty into the little internal hall which is where I'm doing most of the work. Your bathroom looks very nice. I like a sloping ceiling but it's not great if it's too low for your heads! image image

Pat - I saw your 'sunny pix' on the Camera thread. Lovely to see them - makes spring seem a bit nearer. It reminded me - have we 'lost' the Garden Gallery thread for our garden photos though? There seems to be an awful lot of random picture threads. Perhaps we all need to take a current pic - perhaps of one of our New Year's day flowers - and post on it to bump it up image

Loved your little bird pic too, even if he was a bit blurry image  Are they small birds or are your pokers very big - I couldn't decide!  He looked really sweet though. Nice to see something we don't get over here.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Oxford Street braved and DMs purchased - phew! Wonky, she's only 13 and doesn't seem to mind if I have some of the same things... yet. They're in my size, so I did suggest I might borrow them - just got a look image.

It was a chilly day today. Frost covering everything when we got up, though most of it had thawed by mid-morning. I think I'm feeling the cold more because I'm not 100%. Looking forward to the kids being back at school and me feeling like a human again so I can go out out in the garden and have a proper potter - I have a feeling that there are quite a few bulbs poking through, but covered in fallen leaves.

Hope the job went well, Wonky. Hope that Hosta's travels are going smoothly, and that all with dreaded lurgies are on the mend. Dordogne Damsel, I do hope that you are feeling more settled and that the purchase is progressing. Onwards and upwards.

LG - how lovely to be able to wear DMs and not look like a workman - Ive always been too sturdy to manage it - Wonky takes after the other side of the family and is slim and svelte. I remember one of her friends who was even more petite than Wonky, wearing DMs and a tulle ballet skirt for the sixth form ball - she looked amazing.

Here is the Garden Picture thread, Fairygirl, http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/the-potting-shed/garden-pictures-2016-2/990056-8.html#latest , a flower one was also set up this year which probably rivalled it a bit.

I will be having a rest when we go to Norfolk, that was the idea behind going after Christmas.

I hope Wonky enjoys her new job.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Hmmm, not sure that I *don't* look like a workman... the words 'slim' and 'svelte' haven't applied to me since before puberty! But I guess I'd rather channel Jo Brand than J-Lo, when it comes down to it. I put on clompy boots on art foundation and never looked back. My daughter, being 13, is rather more svelte, of course.

Not trying to sound pervy, but I like the sound of DM's and tulle ballet dress, I suppose it's my punk roots.

I am reading Walls Come Tumbling Down, which is the history of Rock Against Racism, which of course was a punk / reggae founded organisation.

Punkdoc, you've just reminded me, I meant to tell you that my sister (when there was mention of medics at Nottingham) is 58... don't know how that might relate to your time there...?

I remember my brother going off to RAR events. I was a bit little then, but I think it's time for stuff like that to happen again. I think I read Billy Bragg lamenting the scarcity of political songsters recently.

My mate wore DMs with her wedding dress - tiny rebel!

Another friend wore wellies at hers (snow, farm, tractor scenario!).

Auntyrach, in the DM Store today they had the most amazing shiny white ones! (and furry black ones)

    Cool!

Could never afford the DMs when I was a student but also loved Converse boots - and had raspberry ones. Had some fun in those!
