Hello Catnap Sorry OH has been poorly - glad things are looking brighter
Hiya SGL
Just finished reading Jessie Burton's The Muse ... Really enjoyed it - a multi layered many textured fascinating read - a bit like a warmer more human version of Byatt's Possession.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Wow, Dove - that sounds scrummy. Wonder if there will be any leftovers??
Back to the sewing project. Managed to make it more complicated than it should have been (making covers for half-cylindrical neck pillows) by using material which really needs French seams to prevent fraying.
Grey and a bit wintry out... but hey, I suppose it's still winter... wouldn't mind hibernating myself, like Catnap. I seem to remember a French village whose inhabitants slept most of the winter. Or did I dream that one?
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Sounds a fairly sensible thing to do, Liri Especially if it's as cold as it's been here.
We are having chicken and mushroom vol au vents from the left over roast chicken we had on Friday. With Brussels sprouts and runner beans. Then I'll make chicken noodle soup with the carcass.
I've spent some time on the sofa with the latest plant catalogue.
For me, it's a good TV night, Midsomer Murders, Call the Midwife then a new one, Apple Tree Yard that I thought I'd give a try. But they are more women's subjects than men's.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Been doing the necessary h****work, then outside in the damp murk for a couple of hours, washing the car and doing a bit of tidying in the garden, and planting a few tulips...
Quite mild out - about 2 degrees. No wind which is what makes the difference. Soemthing's not right with our weather!
Now watching the Orkney/Britain's Ancient Capital programme. I missed the last episode because I set the thing to record the repeat, and there was r***y snooker on instead
You might like that Hosta. I've got loads of stuff recorded which I haven't seen so plenty to catch up on. Does anyone watch No Offence? I may have asked before. I think it's brilliant
Happy sewing Liri. Supposedly simple projects, of any kind, are always the ones that take longest, aren't they?
Left over roast chicken sounds good. I haven't even looked to see what there is to rustle up for dinner
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Just read a preview of Apple tree yard. Might give it a bash.
Fairy, I was thinking about you last night. ( in a warm, loving way ). The World's most Extraordinary Houses on BBC2. We watched No3 on Friday about stunning houses on the coast . Last night we watched episode 1 on catch up " Mountains". Breathtaking and I'm sure right up your street.
Saddens me somewhat that so many of the houses featured have been " holiday retreats". I once saw a car sticker down here saying " Homes are for life, not just for August"
Episode 2 was on " Forest" , will try to squeeze it in before apple tree yard.

Afternoon all.
Given up on woodchip. I'll do the last tomorrow when OH starts some indoor painting chores ( that always cheers him up )
Leftover chilli to warm us up then a lazy afternoon.
flip all decent on telly tonight. Might trawl through catch up and see what we can see.
We're having a lazy one with you Hosta.
Slowroasted belly pork, caramelised apple and onions, crispy baby potatoes, buttery Savoy cabbage with fennel seeds and cider gravy For supper later.

Hi Dove.
BL, I'm going to tape Apple tree yard as I think it clashes with Endeavour. Have you been watching Halcyon Hotel? I'm enjoying that one.
