"Darren" from Dyno Rod has just called to say he'll be here at 9am.

Just a thought: if someone is coming to unblock a drain, is it safe to assume the client will be at home? if so, why did he phone the mobile first? ( didn't get to it before it went to voice mail ) Is it just me who thinks it's odd that he didn't call the land line?

Hosta ... Darren is probably under 27 ... that generation doesn't understand landlines image

Watch what he's doing - a friend had just had huge probs with work done by Dynorod resulting in a huge insurance payout, spending christmas and new year in a hotel, new carpets and suite and redecoration and their insurance company are suing Dynorod ...  As soon as things started to go wrong she took photos ...thank goodness!

Hello everyone. I've been chatting to our son most of the day, so it's seemed a bit rude to post a message. The air con has been on ALL day. I don't think we've ever done that before.

But, when I went out a short while ago with HRH. (8pm), there was a cool breeze coming from the south and fine hints of sprinkles. Fingers crossed. Haven't turned the air con off yet. The whole house is hot except for this room.

    I love your Amarillus, Dove.

    Morning all. -7°

My sons, 39 and 33, never use their land lines and I get told off when I ring on them (cheaper for me than ringing a mobile) as they disturb their small children when they are sleeping. Even my French bank won't accept my land line. If I make an online payment the bank rings me on my mobile, but there isn't a signal here so it gets complicated.

So far here everyone accepts our fixed line and I try not to give my mobile number as I don't know it and only use it for texting Possum if I absolutely have to.

Lovely sunny day again.   Kittens have been out on the bedroom windowsill ogling birds and then they had a good steaming session as they're both sneezing again.  Vet this pm for top up jabs and to take out Minstrel's stitches so I can get the sneezing checked too.

Must get some sewing done first and do a couple of coats of acrylic varnish on my new pot.

Be careful with that rock Hosta.  Have a good time at son's Dove.   Scary Dynorod story.

    Have a good one everyone.

in to warm up and have a cuppa.

10 / 10 for dyno rod. He had all the man hole  covers up ( 6 in total ) and cleared the blockage, image then jetted the whole thing then stuck his magic camera all the way down to the septic tank. All pipes sound, clean and free of obstables. He was concerned about tree roots, but , mercifully none there.

Flippin' freezin' out there but ,after tea, I'm tackling The Rock.

Just heard the court ruling on Article 50.

    Morning all.

Improved weather here; not actually sun, but we can see across the valley, and light levels are higher so we don't have the "imitation sun" on this morning.  Still cold but any improvement is welcome...  image

Collected - and paid for, eek! - my new specs yesterday, then tottered to the supermarket.  The change in prescription, plus different shaped lenses so that the change from close to distant vision in the varifocals is in a different place, un-nerved me a bit.  No doubt I'll soon get used to them.  And at least they're not falling to bits and scratched like the old pair.  I have yet to assess the effect of the "transition" lenses, which darken in the sun...  image

I've just saved £86 on the normal price of my next train trip to Scotland and back, in March.  image  I've got wise to the best places to break the journey for the cheapest fares (there are a few sites on line which find the cheapest options), and managed to book early.  I reckon £3.30 for the Glasgow to Oban stretch, three and a quarter hours of beautiful highland scenery, is especially good value.

Hope you get your sneezing kittens sorted, Obelixx.  Our rescued cats had had flu, and it tends to recur from time to time as runny eyes in the surviving one; the cat who died of leukaemia sneezed a lot when she became ill.  We were never advised to steam them though; that's probably not something you'd be able to start with an adult cat, I guess, unless it was really placid.

Being well over 27, we still use our landline for preference except for calls between OH and me, because those are free on our mobile package.  Our daughter in Ireland gets free weekend calls between her landline and ours, which is lovely.

Best wishes to the rock, the drains and your back, Hosta.

Hope the Lurgy is finally leaving all Forkers!

Steaming is great Liri.  At first they'd wriggle and squeak but now they just lie end to end and soak up the heat and vapours.   Once in the cage they can't go anywhere so you just have to sit nearby and be ready to steady the cage if it wobbles.

Well done on the train fares.  Bargain!

Liri, £3.30 is an absolute bargain  fro Glasgow to Oban image

As it's been so mild here, I hope winter doesn't appear in March especially as you will be working outside this time!!
