Morning all/afties Pat. I'd have thought kangaroo would be a bit ...chewy. Not sure why. I expect it's lean like Venison.
Off soon to see what the hills are like. They're snowy ....but apart from that. You know what I mean
I covered the car at 6 last night and it was already sparkly on the roof. The frozen snow had come off it during the day so it was damp. I'm hoping it won't need too much scraping. Not sure how good any minor roads will be so I'll stick to the local hills at Rest and be Thankful today instead of Lochgoilhead where I intended going. It's a dodgy wee road down there!
Keep warm and dry everyone. Hosta and Pat will be anyway
Have a good day
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Oh Hosta! He must have been so panicked to find your car missing!! At least you know he's being observant.
Lots to do today but every joint aches; quite literally every joint. My hands feel so bad I can't recognise anything I'm touching just the pain. I think lots of hot drinks and rest.
I still need to recover the compost bin and retrieve the rest of next doors paper (recycling bin) from the pond.
Keep safe everyone. We're being quite lucky with the weather so far.
Clari, can't you persuade your OH to do the outside jobs for you? You need to keep warm and get rid of your cold.
Ooops, Hosta...
Glad you're feeling a bit better, Dove. Hope the same applies to BL and the coughing is reducing.
Hope you get some sun, Fairy. It was lovely here yesterday but a bit grey this morning; forecast promises sun here later though, and no more snow, so I think a (lower level!) walk up the valley is on the cards for OH and me.
Pat, that was a lovely photo you posted yesterday. Maybe another jigsaw??
Have a good weekend, folks!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Im not sure about the toughness of Kangaroo meat. You'll have to ask GWRS. I also imagine it depends on the cooking method. I'm probably being a bit precious. We do eat lamb, chicken, Pork etc, so what's the difference? It's more I think because we offer sanctuary here for them because our nearby farmers shoot them because they eat pasture. I might add that they are protected animals here and are not supposed to be shot.
The meat sold for human consumption is done by licensed hunters and they are selected for culling where numbers are too high.
are any of you in the flood danger zone that was mentioned on TV?
Morning all. Having coffee in bed, OH has just brought it up. More coughing at 1.30am, but stayed in bed, not so bad this time. Sun shining through the window.
Hope Fairygirl is OK in those snowy mountains.
Look after yourself, Clari.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Pat, I think a lot of the coastal towns from Yorkshire southwards had a bit of bother from the very high tide - but the wind had dropped, so homes weren't flooded this time.
East Anglia is at greatest risk because it's so low-lying - and some of the coastal farmland is actually below sea level because of marshland drainage, soil erosion etc. In January 1953 there was a terrible flood covering coastal areas from East Anglia to London, because of exceptionally high tides and a severe storm, which killed over 300 people on land and nearly 200 in drownings at sea. Since then, sea defences have been improved and there's a good early warning system, which is why some people were evacuated as a precaution yesterday. (Some of my family came from that area and older members still have tales to tell.)

Good morning Hosta
Nice pressie for tenant when you get back?
Hope political situation stays calm. We avoid these problems by holidaying in the West Country

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Hosta - Silly boy!

Good idea Liri. I'll put it on the jigsaw site.

Hosta, I'm lost for words! Will you ever live it down?

Flood danger was mostly coastal this time Pat - and seems to have thankfully passed without incident
Think we're heading out for a walk today too
Our garden is still covered in snow from Thursday night, so will wrap up warm ⛄️⛄️⛄️
Have a great weekend - hope the lurgies and colds are now on their way.
That's good Chicky. It's difficult for me to understand where everyone is. They just said thevEast Coast, so who knows where the major problems were.
