Having lived in a variety of properties of all ages with different ceiling heights, Wonks, I can safely say little modern, well insulated boxes are a lot easier to keep warm!
The draughts in older properties are definitely the biggest issue.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Very true Fairy, although this is just as old as we only moved downstairs to the lower flat, but this an old tall town house and I think we are a little more sheltered from the wind on the lower level!
I wonder why there are so many silver cars? But OH bought one because it was on special offer and the last one in the showroom. Mine is red, red is my favourite car colour.
I have an old sleeping bag for when I sit on the sofa. I've got to the state that when I visit people and sit on their sofas I feel something is missing! I shall be in it this afternoon.
Sounds colder in Suffolk than here this morning, for a change. Getting warmer here -5° this morning, but it's grey and cloudy.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Our heating is on all day at the mo but not in all the rooms, just the ones we actively use. We also keep the rads to just warm and then rug up in fleeces, jumpers, ski socks as necessary. I also have a rug for sofa schlepping plus the dogs and kittens.
We also have a log burner which we've lit the last three nights but it gets so hot we end up shedding rugs and jumpers and have felines and canines stretched out full, luxuriating. We've set the CH to 12C at night after the chappies who came to service it set it at 16! Far too warm.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Absolutely Joyce - my jeep was silver and it certainly helped when on those little mucky roads! Current car is dark blue - just as well it's been a bit drier here...
Hibernating sounds quite good Catnap, but not this winter. Been much too good - up here anyway!

Morning all. Chilly here too but the sun is gorgeous. I really feel the cold too but my OH doesn't - he only puts a jumper over his tshirt if it gets below freezing, whereas by that time I'm in thermals and several jumpers! Socks and scarves too unless it's hot out. And I mean hot.
Fairy, that was the London march. 20,000 people predicted, 100,000 turned up. There were lots of references to that particular assertion of his on the banners... did you spot the other one that's visible though - 'We shall overcomb' - very funny! It was the most peaceful, good-natured, assertive and purposeful demonstration I have ever been on. It gave me hope where I've had none for some time. And no Joyce, no pink woolly hat for me as I didn't have time to sort one out. I did wear a few touches of purple and green though...
No gardening here again today, I'm missing it. But have to sort out presents for younger daughter's birthday this week. Dentist tomorrow. Have a good day everyone.

Busy, I'm on my third silver car......reason : they don't show the dirt as much as some colours
Afternoon all was here last in October just woken from hibernation for a quick feed then I think I might go back for a month or so
I hope every one is OK and Happy New Year sorry it's so late
unfortunately the OH has been poorly these last few months but is on the mend again now.
It's cold but a beautiful sunny day so we are off for a walk on the beach and a spot of lunch in our local.
It's good to be back
and looking forward to a nice long spring and summer.
