GWRS - you could have gone to mine! They're still inviting me three years after I retired! Unfortunately I had something else booed for that day so had to decline, but you could have gone in my place ... but you'd have had to pay for yourself ... £20 for Christmas lunch here http://debut.ccn.ac.uk/debut-restaurant

Still no Xmas apron. HURRAH. I also told my Boss , I'd rather save the £10 and sit at home with Hubby watching the last Planet Earth. " Don't blame you. I'm only going because I have to"
To add insult to injury we had a local ( really , really bad ) brass band in store playing christmas tunes. They were flippin' awful.
Evening all. Had a nice little jaunt up to Glenshee today so will sort out some photos after dinner. Daughter is treating us to a Chinese so that saves me doing anything
I haven't really caught up here - but Clari, a**e kicking is definitely required....
I've not even got cards yet, let alone written any, although I've bought some from the John Muir Trust which I support. They should be here in a few days. I'm not posting any, other than my sister and nephews, and all the rest can be hand delivered. It seems daft to spend so much on postage sending cards to people I never see from one year to the next. I'd rather give the money to charity instead. I know several people who do the same now.
Could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've had a woodie at a feeder, although I've heard them often in this garden and the one I had round the corner . Probably too much food for them elsewhere. Not seen my little nuthatch again yet
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Back from the Carol Service. So many people away or moved back to England. One year there were 225, more English than French. Today there were 105, possibly more French than English. I made 10 litres mulled wine this morning, so did my friend, most was drunk but there are quite a lot of mince pies left. Most of mine were eaten though, I'm glad, didn't really want them back. The Abbey looked pretty with the bouquets on the pews but it was freezing, no heating The singing was lovely and the organist is really good.
Now shall make a quick stir fry and watch the Strictly results.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Just back from sil's, exchanging presents, having lunch and drinks(hic). My niece and her husband payed £40 each for their Christmas 'do' and were very disappointed with the food and the shabbiness of the hotel (in Edinburgh). Shame.
LilyP I think that was very heavy handed of the Russian Police. Hope you're daughter has got herself calm again. Wishing all the family well and looking forward to hearing about your next grandchild
As for toes, what is it with us. I've bashed mine so many times OH says that by now I should know how big my feet are. I must have damaged the nail bed as one of mine grows in two separate bits. I don't tend to paint my nails in summer.
Fairy I'm looking forward to your pics. Great to get out an up the hills
Flowers I hope you're coping OK after the op and that the pain won't be as bad as anticipated.
LilyP, I had a word with my son who has Russian in laws (ex) and several friends and relations in Moscow and all over Russia. He said that an unexpected visit from the police to check passports isn't unusual following a stay by visitors from outside Russia - just to check that the visitors have gone home and no one has swapped identities or anything like that. It may feel unnerving but really should be nothing to get stressed about. ((Hugs))

Forgot to ask after the dodgy 'toes'. Mine are hideous - especially the big one on my right foot which was trodden on many years ago and the nail bed is knackered. It's more 'hoof' than 'nail'. I've lost the nails on a couple of others now. It ain't pretty
LP - that sounds a very unpleasant experience altogether. Hope Dove's post has calmed and reassured you. Not helpful when a new arrival is imminent either....
