    Lantana says:

A question, Clari does hound eat anything else but tripe? image One of ours used to like ox cheek - raw.

    See original post

Last night he dined on chicken breast, lamb rib, beef cheek, beast liver, chicken feet, and ox tail... but non of these create the same... aroma that tripe does!

    Morning all.

Looks today for a lazy day as his lordship has declared himself ill. I think he's had a festering virus for a while but late nights out playing, am unheated house, and high work loads mean he can't shift it like he would normally.

I will fill him full of bacon and orange juice.

  • Ill?  Is he sure it's not just too much 'going out and enjoying himself' ?

I'd add an Alka Seltzer to the orange juice image

Perhaps someone needs to sort out some heating image

  • We had Greater Spotteds in the gardens where I used to work Joyce, and they often brought their families to the feeders.  I have seen them in the garden here too, but only very occasionally, very early on summer mornings.  I love to see them.  We hear them drumming nearby in the spring, and we also have Green Woodpeckers around - love to hear them yaffling image

I'd add a kick up the behind!  Don't coddle him Clari.  Focus his attention on the need for heat and comfort at home, now, for all of you.

Joyce - We had two or three families of woodpeckers in Belgium but none here so far tho I have heard the odd one about.   On the other hand, birds are now visiting the feeders I put out so I'll gradually move them closer to windows so I can see the action.

Our kittens are clearly feeling better - hyperactive and eating like it's going out of fashion!   Lester is going to walk the dogs while I finish cooking and potting the mango chutney and let the monsters explore downstairs in peace.   They are both very inquisitive.

  • Afternoon all!

OH is feeling sorry for himself.  A heavy cold and too many concerts has taken its toll, so he's currently snoozing on the sofa.  I've escaped to the spare room to listen to the radio and write Christmas cards - not a lot of mileage staying downstairs listening to the snoring.  He has 3 more concerts before Christmas, so I'm being gentle with him.

Glad the kittens are doing well, Obelixx.  Our cats had flu when rescued, and the symptoms returned for Gracie, the one we lost a couple of years ago, when she became unwell with leukaemia - runny eyes and sneezing.  I think the virus stays in the system and re-appears if the cat is stressed.  Vera has the occasional runny eye but is pretty well.  Completely barmy though... she's currently "helping" me type, sitting on my knee with her face buried in my left armpit.

LP - very best wishes to your family; looking forward to good news about the baby soon.

    Back to the cards.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Hope the snooze does OH some good Liri.

LP - you must be in a state of nervous anticipation.  I hope all goes well.

Since I'm babysitting exploratory felines instead of gardening I suppose I could do some cards too.   They're in the extension where we have the cold larder, freezers, boiler and boots cupboard plus the unfinished room that is full of garden furniture.  Lots of nooks and crannies.

I think... just think... that I've purchased the last of my share of Christmas presents.

I can only hope they all turn up in time!

Thank goodness for the Internet. I'm afraid as much as I would normally "cope" with shopping I'd not survive dragging myself around for this bizzare collection.

OB: he's too tall to kick up the backside! His moping about was suspended while he found the energy to change his car tyres for his winter ones (can't see them being needed for a while!) but I forsee sending him to bed early tonight.
