I am thinking of AA Gills family tonight. I have enjoyed his columns so much. I guess it's good he didn't suffer too long

    Morning all.

Wide awake until 4.30 this morning then alarm went off at 6.45 for coal face duties.

Glad I'm on tills , and not driving.

Clarice, you're not alone re Strictly.. I can't be doing with all the hooting and hollering which seems to accompany live performances these days.

Good morning, am I the first up? Woke needing the loo / a drink at 4.30 and was wide awake, gave up trying to sleep and got up at 5. Very uusual for me - insomnia almost always means not being able to get to sleep. Once asleep I'm normally okay. Not this time. I guess 4hrs is better than nothing.

Nativity / Christingle this morning, panto this pm. Hope everyone has a good day.

    LG, rubbish , isn't it?

I avoided the Christmas Lunch on Thursday, I'm not going to the Christmas Party tonight. I wonder if I can avoid being issued with a Christmas Apron for the whole day.

I hope you feel okay at work after so little sleep :-(. Are you working a full day? I declined the Christmas party too - somehow I think the fact that several people are being made redundant and many more are being forced to accept a demotion and pay cut might have taken the shine off the festivities... Oh the joys of public service.

I have, however, used my extra couple of hours to get a little bit more sorted out regarding presents for family, which is a relief as I hadn't even started to think about them and was aware various email discussions were being neglected (quite possibly the cause of last night's insomnia). Every cloud, etc.

    Coffee has helped.

Sleeps a funny old thing isn't it?  We like to lay in bed on a Saturday night and listen to Round Britain Quiz and were looking forward to it last night, but the last thing either of us can remember is the introduction music image  But I've been awake and listening to Chris Packham and a programme about squirrels since what seems like hours ago. image

Dove - I heard the first two of Round Britain Quiz and, after a very early morning cuppa, the start of Chris and red squirrels.......the joy of having so many come to feed and even sit on your windowsill image

I then went back to sleep.
