I haven't heard of any reports Fg and I have huge ash trees at my other place which are in rude health. (Wouldn't break my heart if they did succomb to be honest as they are a sight!).
I have two weeping willows in the "lawn" here but I'm pretty sure they've drowned. Bits break off and they're all covered in a lichen/mossy stuff. They just don't look to be thriving and have barely grown in years. I'm going to clear around the bases and see if that helps and give them a good feed. If they don't buck up they're coming out as they are neither use nor ornament where they are. They make me swear when I'm mowing!
I also have "ornery" willows along the boundary at the road and I've chatted to Nut about coppicing them to make a hedgy looking thing. That'll save me taking them out and they seem to like it.
I fell for the place for it's haphazard charm but I'm so structured in my thinking that all my ideas are too formal. It's a battle! Much and all as I would love 300ft of squared off beech/hornbeam hedge....
Back now , waiting for tea to infuse then I need to water the polytunnels before we head off tomorrow and just hope for the best while we're away.
Hair now cut, and re-styled. Will take a bit of getting used to but I fancied a change.
Chicky , hopefully Dad will be discharged soon and settle into his new place.
Clari, I'm with the others. Someone needs a kick up the backside and get into gear. Methinks you've been MORE than patient and co-operative to date, but enough is enough. Good luck.
World peace... we can dream. Meanwhile I shall be working on my little area of influence this year, at least. Got to start somewhere...
Punkdoc, as others have said, have a lovely restful, restorative time on your hols and yes - take time over your Yemen decision.
Airports. Ryanair at Dublin seem intent on making all their staff redundant; they are introducing machines there (perhaps they are already at other airports, but I've not seen them) so you can scan your boarding card, then weigh & tag your own hold luggage, without needing contact with a human. And when our flight out to Dublin was delayed, they got us all (standing) at the gate for 40 mins, from which we could see our plane arriving and disgorging its incoming passengers. Rubbish.
Clari, perhaps your OH should be "encouraged" to make (and keep!) some important resolutions tomorrow.
My OH is off to the footy this afternoon so I need to make lunch early. 41 years of marriage haven't taught him how to make his own...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Actually, Joyce, he's much more likely to buy junk food than eat things I leave for him... since the advent of statins, he seems to think he's immortal.

Another coughing night. Good thing I can type on here, voice gone croaky. I'm a misery when I have a cold, made 1st OH impatient, but 2nd OH is so sweet and I get stroked and drinks are made.
I must admit I like RyanAir, we use it a lot and it's made travel between France and England so easy. The planes are nearly always on time, sometimes early. The staff are friendly, can't be an easy job squeezing up the isles at the beck and call of demanding passengers. And, if you book early, they are cheap.
Love the sound of "Lang may yer lum reek" I hope everyone's lums reek in 2017 - but only if that's a good thing.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Good in a way BL - it means long may your chimney smoke, so 'may you have longevity' . Unfortunately, all those smoking chimneys - not so good for the environment....
Not so good for your cough either!

Hi all.
Happy holidays hosta, I hate the whole flying malarkey these days too.
A few more days till I go, looking forward to the lovely spicy smell that you get in large parts of the island.
In case I am not on again today:
Can I wish you all a very happy 2017, with abundant beauty and no pests.
May at least some of your wishes come true.
Thank you for your friendship and support in 2016, you are a bunch of amazing people.
I would also like to hope that some who have left the site this year, decide to come back again.
World peace would be nice, but that may be stretching things a bit.
MSF would like me to go to Yemen in March, which I now have to give some serious thought too.
When you don't even know who's in the team
S.Yorkshire/Derbyshire border
Wishing you all happiness in 2017 punkdoc. Think carefully about Yemen and come to the right decision for you.
I too wish some who have left would come back ( and that some others might leave, but there's the handy ignore button if they presist)
Lots of love to you and Mrs doc too, doc. Lang may yer lum reek x
Make the right choice for you
Yeh - world peace - what are the chances do you think?

Now is a good time to start Liri
A full fridge and freezer when you left for Lismore and empty on your return no doubt?
Had visitor this morning but will really need to get house tidied up and a washing on.
