Yes, that's how the our parliamentary democracy works - however as I've said Cameron was either ignorant, disingenuous or careless - I can understand that there are parts of the electorate who didn't understand it - as far as I can see there is very little education on the subject in schools nowadays. But the discovery that there are Members of Parliament and political journalists who don't understand the processes of our democracy is frightening. Added to that, a candidate for the leadership of a party which has pretensions to be a possible HM Opposition in the next few years, has called for the High Court Judges to be 'brought under democratic control'! That way lies fascism!!!
Pdoc - the world has been in a mess before and it will be in a mess again. It says something for the human spirit that so many of us expect things to improve along the way - a two steps forward and one step back sort of thing. Sometimes it seems the other way around doesn't it. At times like these it's important for us to focus on the little things that can make such a difference - without them, the big things don't matter.
But that's enough of that for now
I have a fish pie to make - whether or not I'm going to go out there in this 'orrid weather and pot up some bulbs and bubble-wrap the little greenhouse remains to be seen.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
PDoc - Dove's right. Humanity has been going to hell in a hand cart for millennia yet we survive. Some of us even learn and progress and help others do the same so celebrate that rather than focus on the negs.
Sunny start but gone cloudy now and feels cold. Need to walk the dogs with OH and think about where to plant a golden rain tree to liberate a large pot for more bulbs but am otherwise pottering indoors today.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Morning - trying to be sunny out there but the mist is lingering.
No landscapers today - coming back tomorrow to spread a bit of shingle and clear up. We have been so lucky with the weather - dry when they were moving tons of soil around and there were no paths - and now (since the turf has gone down) heavy showers on alternate days.
Friend coming to stay for the night. Soup and cheese scones made for lunch (though they look a bit more like biscuits if I'm honest) and thai curry paste made and waiting to be transformed into prawn curry tonight. Hope she hurries up - I'm gasping for a coffee.
Hosta - I think Brexit and our constitution may be the least of our worries if it all goes pear shaped in the States today / tomorrow. Dove is right though - I'm getting really fed up with some of the ignorant remarks being bandied around by people who should know better.
Where's our Fairy? - has she been waylaid by strange men in the Scottish hills?
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
