Love scallops here too but they've always had to be an Xmas treat.   Still busy exploring lovely fresh fish here and haven't got to shellfish yet.

Busy - where do you find pak choi?  Haven't seen any here yet and curly kale just the once in a market.

Whilst approaching Challans on the kitten run we saw whole rows of luscious fennel growing outside.  Very impressive.   I do like the way supermarkets here proudly display local grown veggies and fruits and cheeses and meats and misshapen or dirty but well brought up local or French fruit and veg.  Still haven't found a farm shop except for pork and charcuterie but met a man from a local cheese co-operative yesterday ad some local fish smokers.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

I get it in Le Grand Frais. There is one in Niort and one in Chollet - any good for you? Big choice of fruit and veg and exotic as well. Meat, fish and cheese too, but can be pricey.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • I spoke to Wonky earlier. She was tired but had the best day  I expect she'll tell you about it. She said to say Hi from her.

Theres a bit of a frost in the back garden, but OH says the grass is crunchy at the front.

Sweet dreams all image  See you in the morning  ...

    Good morning everyone.

Ive had a good visit with the Dr, so I feel more confident about my symptoms. Just takes time for my body to get used to the new medication.image

MORNING ALL! The ground has a good - bug killing - frost to it. The air most certainly is filled with sharp edges to cut away at your skin as your dragon breath fills your view...

.... and that's just the kitchen (joke: it's 6'C inside the house).

Keep safe everyone and wrap up warm!!

  • Morning all,

Not quite a frost here but close.

Ridiculously busy day/week ahead, I don't know how I do it, my days just seem to fill up. A surveyor and a builder to meet at 'the house' today and an estate agent that is pushing me to settle on the 100,000€, that is why I am really trying to pin the builder down on a price for the work. image

Also helping with a Thanksgiving cookery workshop this morning and also a meeting of the committee this afternoon regarding school Christmas market and an evening with (hopefully) a lot of volunteers to make Christmas decorations for said market. image Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are no better. image

Life on a Scottish island sounds idyllic at the moment, wish I was there. image

Hope everyone else's day is less stressful than mine. image

Stay strong DD. Are you confident the estate agent is passing on your offer to the vendors? They must realise that you are serious about this and a bird in the hand and all that.... Keep playing the game.

I'm away to London for a couple of days. Westmnster Abbey, V&A, big shops and foodie stops all beckon. Weather will be sunny but very cold - excellent for some cityscape photography. image

Good morning all image A crisp bright white morning here. Hopefully a sharp enough frost to kill some bugs - we certainly didn't have one like this last winter. Second coffee has arrived.

enjoy London Topbird. It's a good time of year to be there image  DD hope things turn out right for you
