Having your own bolt hole is essential when OH is around.  Some of the "sheds" on another Thread would be ideal. I have a small room with sofa and TV.image

re OH's questions. I think the most infuriating one is when he's about to serve up dinner. If it's something like, curry , or traybake, or pasta : " How much of this do you want?"

After 22 years together , you think he'd know what size portion I have?

So I just say " the same as you" but I know he'll ask again next time.

  • My dogs still haven't realised the clocks have gone back, so I was down the garden at 6 this morning and I'm SO glad I was. A few stars still visible and a beautiful sky with colours you wouldn't dream of painting, streaking the horizon above Lugh before he made his appearance. Now, why did I forget to put a load of washing on last night? It irks me more than I can say to have to use daytime rates on the 'leccy image

I did manage to wash the greenhouse yesterday, and got soaked as usual. Decided it was daft to bubble wrap the whole greenhouse as I really only have half a stage-worth of tender babies. Instead I've made up a frame of bamboo canes with build-a-balls and covered that in a double layer of bubble wrap round the sides, with a removable top of bubble wrap for inspection purposes and giving them the occasional drink. Do you think that will be enough on its own, for a normal Devon winter?

Hope you all have a wonderful day. I've got paid work to do, so no gardening for me today. Instead I shall work in front of the living room window where I can enjoy the view.

    Good morning all, hi Patimage

It poured down overnight so I was a bit surprised to see frost this morning when I took the dog out.  Thankthecat your mini greenhouse in a greenhouse sounds a sensible solution.

Pat you can relax and recover for a while nowimage.

OH retired seven years ago but mealtimes now revolve around his bowling eventsimage.  He's helpful in some areas of the house but completely blind to 'obvious' jobs that need doing.  Think it's too late to retrain nowimage.  I wonder if anything I do (or don't do) annoys himimageimage.

    Have a good day everyoneimage

OH has been at home since Jan 1st and it's OK except for having to do lunch as opposed to eating what and when I feel like it, or not.   He's pretty good at helping with chores but when he does need a prompt I usually suggest something along the lines of getting his bloody Dyson out or fetching in teh washing while I cook dinner.  Getting more observant now.

Another sunny day here so I'll be outside pottering again and not doing the many indoor jobs outstanding.  Sorting what's left can wait for a rainy day, as can painting.

Hope you enjoyed your breakfast Busy.  Probably won't need to eat till dinner time now.

Is raisin toast a sort of tea bread or a just a fruity loaf like cramique in Belgium which is a fruity brioche and actually very light but calorific.  Great for B&B pudding.

  • Since me and Mr Cat have only been together three and a half years we're still in the honeymoon phase. From October last year until August this, we both worked from home and were together 24/7. It was heaven. I honestly can't imagine I'll ever get over the novelty of having him with me, after almost two decades of my previous miserable marriage. He has his shortcomings, like Lesley and Obelixx's OHs - he certainly is blind to chores that need doing, doesn't seem to see dust or dirt or things-that-need-mending at all - and he doesn't garden. That's a shame, I'd like to share that with him, but at least he is prepared to push the lawn mower round once a week image. On the other hand, he's a great cook and would wait on me hand and foot if I let him. Oh, and he hates football - hurrah!

Obelixx. Haven't read back properly, but saw your query about the raisin bread, so I took a photo of a few slices. The plate is there to give you an indication of size - the plate is normal bread and butter plate size.

Have a lovely time Lily  - love Antigua especially the Nelson's dockyards. 'Bumped' into Rod Stewart there a few years ago image

Might need to adopt the "For better for worse but not for lunch" motto here too.image

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
