That's the one we had for the front door etc at our last house - a Victorian terrace - someone once knocked on the door to ask what colour and make it was

Interesting week. The removers arrived early - ie mid pm on Monday and were unloading the plant trailer as we returned form shopping. Worked till 7pm then slept in the trucks and spent 5 more hours on Tuesday unloading and then scarpered. OH went out at 7am to fetch them croissants and baguettes...... no visible bakers in the nearest village and the next one said of course she didn't have 12 croissants or change for a 50€note. We won't be regulars!
Since then, registering at the local council for residence, at another for refuse collection and composting bins, buying light fittings and a washing whirlygig, walking dogs and caring for a cat. She knocked very insistently on the bedroom window above the single storey parts on Monday morning. Gorgeous ginger cat, clearly starving but very friendly and cuddly and not at all shy. Been getting through 4 sachets of food a day plus biscuits and milk. Turns out she belongs to the previous owners and disappeared in mid July just after we'd bought the place. They're coming to fetch her tomorrow evening.
Meanwhile, we're carrying on with the unpacking. Gardening and cookery books sorted today, amongst other things. Lunch out in Luçon - very good.
Clari - hope the breaking is soon over and the making and creating starts soon.
Dove - rest! It's a short term frustration for a long term result
WW - your month will fly by.
DD - your OH's role in life is to frustrate and control you. Don't let him and don't be fooled. Good luck with your projects. Someone is our new village is advertising sessions of English tea to "improve your English" at a local hall. Wonder if he does cakes.
Good to see everyone else chatting and pottering as usual. Hope all nasty bugs go away soon.

Hi Joyce. Owners very keen to retrieve their cat so I'll keep her in tomorrow to be sure she's there. I just hope they keep her in long enough in her new home for her to like her new home and not try and make her way back here as there are all sorts of hazards - roads, dogs, foxes, hunters...
Our plan is to spend mornings unpacking and pms doing what we fancy. It has all been extraordinarily exhausting but now we have no deadlines and are sleeping better. The plants have all arrived safely and are now gathered together for easy watering with the sprinkler. No rain in sight for the next few days. Very dry here so no prospect of gardening to distract from unoacking....

Really interesting chatting this morning. I'm lazing in bed with a coffee. Hard to believe since I'm really a tea person, but on TV a couple of nights ago, they announced that two coffees a day could prevent dementia. Do you think Hubby is giving me a hint? I can't say that I can blame him for trying, though. My memory is terrible nowadays. I can be telling Hubby about someone I saw in a show and try to remember their name, and I can visualise them in my mind, but do you think I can pull a name out. A couple of hours later, ill suddenly say it was so and so and Hubby will look puzzled and say what are you talking about? I'm not quite in the "butter in the cupboard and sugar in the 'fridge" stage yet.
I had planned a washing day today, but there are more high winds predicted so I can't be bothered fighting the clothes line again and needing to go out to untangle clothes every so often.
Im a coffee drinker Pat. I have a bad memory for names, but then I always have had so that's not a sign of anything.
Glad the worst is over Obelixx - as you say, now you can take your time. Glad the ginger cat will be reunited with his family.
It all seems very quiet and still out there - just an occasional rook flying past. OH is setting off on his bike for work. I don't know what the weather forecast is. I shall check ...

Glad to hear you've arrived safely and are busy settling in Ob. What a great idea to confine unpacking to mornings only
Bristol was lovely on Wednesday - albeit very hilly and we walked everywhere. Leeds tomorrow, but train this time so a bit more relaxing. Will probably noodle with you lot on the journey.
......but first, I have to survive one more day at that madhouse I work in They are all bonkers .....I'm the only sane one in the place

Thanks for all your kind comments. The pots were from Ashwoods Garden Centre RB.
Evening all. Builder has finished his part. Now awaiting electrics, plumbing, window man, plasterer...
oh and I've still more plaster to knock off the walls.
We did wobble over to a few places to look at carpet and fire places... turns out we have *very* expensive tastes. Alas our wallets are bare!
Evening all.
Yvie, I love your door and porch. It's beautiful, lovely colour too.
Been on Nanna duty today, lovely fun day with poppet.
Brrr its cold out there today, winter draws on
Time for a cuppa and a mooch

Good evening obelixx. Good to know that plants and belongings arrived safely.
I wonder if ginger cat will be around to be collected or whether you will be preferable to it's owner.
At least you can take your time to unpack and settle in.
