It's just begun to spit out there, so I've come in. The garden looks much better now - still some edges to do and things to plant, but there are fewer weeds and the chionodoxa and scillas have been planted in drifts beneath the amelanchier and the Narc. Tresemble nearby. Just the Minnows and Peer Gynts to plant now ...... oh, and the little species tulips that were in pots last year - they can go somewhere in the Sunny Bed.
Then there's the front garden to tidy up ... at least the lawn is beginning to look a little greener
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Evening all. Hope Pat is tucked up warm by now....
I cut back the white sweet peas which were on the fence with the pale nasturtiums. The weather last week has done for 'em. The Cupanis are still going strong though. My front grass looks rubbish. I had to cut it on Saturday even though it was too wet. It's never going to dry out well enough now anyway so it had to be done. It'll grow again....
'Incy wincy' on the front lounge window must be ok. There was a wrapped 'item' in his web yesterday, and now it's gone...
My species Tulips have arrived Dove. Just have to decide where exactly they're going Pots of Minnow are nice. I did a greyish, concrete type pot with them last year Looked really pretty.
Pleasant here - think the day got better as it went on. Would have been an ideal gardening day. It's about 14 or 15 degrees just now. Pity I have to go and get food shopping.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Nearly 3 weeks without t'interweb at home ( I just love BT Openreach ) then hols (very little internet) for a couple of weeks then lots to do etc etc.
But I missed all of you Have popped in when cafe's and other hotspots have allowed so I know DD is settling into her new house / life & I think WW has got a new job and Obelixx is moving. So many congratulations to all of you.
I saw BL's sad news (our beloved pets leave such a void) so huge hugs for you.
I also see that Runny's made a few posts - hooray - we really missed you. All that Poldark talk was clearly too much to resist
As for the rest of you - you all seem to have been busy and chatty as per. Have only been able to skim read back (6 weeks is an eternity on Forkers ) so apologies for all the other major events I've missed.
We had a lovely couple of weeks in the Lakes, Northumberland and Durham. The weather was exceptionally good for the time of year - even had to do some washing because we'd taken lots of jumpers etc but really only needed T-shirts most of the time. Did lots of heritage and history stuff so really enjoyed it.
Everything has suddenly gone autumnal since we got home - everyone's planting bulbs and I have a cupboard full of jam and chutneys. Had to light the log burner on Sunday.
But I quite like this time of year - a feeling of stocking up, building the nest, getting ready to snuggle down for the winter and good excuses to start eating rich casseroles and proper puds.
Time for a G&T now and then catching up with Victoria on the TV.
SYL folks.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Good to see you T'bird. I was going to let you know there was another Grand Tours series on, but thought you must have been on holiday as you'd not been on. A 'grand tour' of your own!
Glad it was bonny for you

Welcome back Topbird, nice to hear from you again.
Sorry to hear about all those power cuts Pat, mind you candlelight can be so flattering.
Dove, sounds like you have been busy. I'm trying to talk myself into sorting out the greenhouse tomorrow.
Been on Nanna Duty today, we popped into Wyvale (not to buy plants I might add) and picked up a pot for my Iris Reticulata Harmony, should look nice on the garden table over the winter, might put a few winter pansies in it too.
Been busy and also suffering from sinusitis as well as ex OH managing to vex me, seems there is no escape. Trying to be firm and remain positive but he really does manage to suck energy out of me.
Nice to see you Topbird, best of luck with settling in Obelixx , rest up BL and best wishes to everyone else, oops, forgot Hosta and poor sleep, must be so frustrating.
Off to bed with yet more painkillers. Going for a 2nd visit to potential tearoom tomorrow with a plumber to decide if a bathroom could be fitted where needed. Hoping for a positive response.
Wish I could do a bit of a time warp to about 18 months time when all this upheaval and uncertainty would be over.
Good night all.

Thanks Fairy - will have a look to see if I can find Grand Tours - just love it
Good to see you back Topbird
thought it had been quiet around here
Glad the holiday was good, and if you were without t'interweb for a while, at least you got the larder stocked up.
I've done some jam/jelly/chutney-ing, but I've still got piccalilli, pickled pears and raspberry jam to make (the raspberries are in the freezer).
