Evening all. Been outside till six o clock, planting some bulbs that jumped into the big trolley at the nursery... along with an orange Kniphofia and an orange Crocosmia.. I only went for the Black Magic Rhodie that I wanted for the end of the new border....
Also been doing a bit of lifting, but not quite on Hosta's scale. Brilliant job! Great bargains too.
Had a really nice moment though - the new couple who've just moved in were out for a walk with their toddler, and the chap was very complimentary about the garden and wanted to get some tips for his. Nice to have a compliment.
Good to see you T'bird - was wondering where you'd gone. I was 27 again last week too but I'm trying to forget birthdays now - next year is rather a big one....
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you for mentioning your Bressingham photos, Dove. I'd missed them. Lovely.
Congratulations Hosta, on weight and the rock.
Welcome back Topbird.
I didn't have a lie in this morning and was too busy to come here! I've done lots of sewing, repairing children's clothes and the cut in his duvet cover that one naughty little grandson had done. Daughter suggested an outing but the grand children didn't want to, they were happy to play together. There was a frost this morning but the sun came out and it got quite warm. They played in the garden. I made Cottage Pie for lunch and we all went out for a walk, but some took their bikes.
Now I'm back home as daughter's husband will be home for the weekend. First daughter and her OH return from Venice on Sunday and will collect her 3.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
You've all been busy so I've been enjoying a lazy lay-in and reading in bed. Dove, you really made me laugh about your shoes. I find the most exasperating thing I do is to think of something that needs doing, and get to the location, and my mind has gone completely blank. Drives me crazy.
Hubby says he was woken by rain through the night, but of course, I didn't hear a thing. Must remember to check the rain gauge when HRH and I go for our morning walkies and to open the GH. (she is still asleep). I'm trying not to sound guilty about laying in bed at 10am, but Michael Mosley told me last night that you should have 8 hours sleep each night. And it was well after midnight when I convinced Hubby to turn off Jules Holland and to try to get some sleep.
Exciting news. There was 5mm rain in the gauge. That's a total of a whole 11mm so far this month . They are having snow in Tasmania, the wind is very cold here so that's it for me outside this morning.
Its been an awful day here. Overcast and cold with the occasional sprinkle of misty rain. So, I got all enthusiastic and decided to prick out some tomato seedlings. Talk about a forest of little two- leafed things. Anyway, I've made inroads on some of them and will continue to keep them on the veranda in the bottom-heat propagator. They seem happy there. I must say I'm surprised how many germinated. I was using up old seeds that I'd saved over the last few years and didn't expect such a good result. Now I'll have to find people who would like some young seedlings in the next month or so.
Just in case anyone is interested in which tomatoes I'm propagating - Sweet Bite, Oxheart, Kumamoto, Grape Kumato, Black Cherry, Siberian. I haven't dug the beds over yet, but plenty of time before the ground warms up enough.
Ive also had a good response from my dill seeds and basil.
Good morning all G'day Pat Sounds good to be pricking out toms. I grew some ox heart types the other year. They had a really good flavour, a slight hint of citrus.
OH has set off to work on his bike. I'm still in bed but in a min I'll be heading for the shower. It's grey and damp outside. there's ir*ning to be done. We're off to MILs tomorrow for a quick visit.

Big one for me too next year Fairy
- shall we have a joint cake-in next October?
It is lovely when somebody says nice things about your garden - they sound like good new neighbours

Morning all
Afternoon Pat. . . lots of tomatoes sown. Nothing like the taste of home grown.
First slot for grocery delivery so I'd better get some clothes on when I finish my cuppa.
Have a good weekend.
