Hi PJ. We did in Belgium so will, of course, adapt and look forward to trying new things here. We've done the beans already but decided we prefer my own version using those beans. Tried some new cheeses too with unpasteurised goat and cow's milk. Goat OK but not fussed about the cow. Plenty more to try.
When we stayed in a gite for the house signing week, they left us a Vendée brioche - lovely but definitely not for weight watchers. We are also enjoying fresh fish from the market on Fridays and OH loves the sardines.from St Gilles-Croix-de-Vie.
Our neighbour rears Blondes d'Aquitaine sold via a co-op. Lovely meat and we like Limousin too.
Passed through Angers last week on a garden centre hunt - very good if you want riding clothes or horse gear, dog stuff and garden equipment but short on plants and ordinary pots. Good looking village.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

It was a Gamm Vert in Angers and there's a Jardiland in La Roche s Y and there's this place, just the other side of Mouthiers-les-Mauxfaits http://www.pepinieres-boutin.com/ which looks like a potential sweetie shop.
Can get Heinz beans here too but too sweet for me so I do my own now. OH laments brown sauce but I can probably make that, like his lime pickle. Haven't looked for Marmite so can't say. I can get a Telegraph or a Mail every day except Sunday's. It's a mystery as to why there's no Times but, in fact, I treat UK papers as holiday reads and not for every day consumption.
OH has distracted me with light fittings so really must go and unpack my apparel.

Umm Obelixx - are you under the spotlight now. You are really taking in all that your new place has to offer but it's nice to leave other avenues to explore at your leisure. Find the drill and hide it.
Yvie I'm pleased to hear that you're feeling better and hope you enjoy your daughter's birthday treat. How on earth did you manage that puzzle. I, like Pat, lowered the number of pieces but couldn't find a way to stop the rotation. Took me ages
Lizzie - what a joy to see your g/s taking some of his first steps and knowing there are plenty more to come. Congratulations to your son and dil
The presentation at the bowling club went well(ish). Food was good, cabaret wasn't. OH WA snappy because he was picking up a prize and won a bottle of vodka in the raffle (now I'm happy). Hello folks, we're back after a lovely day - we bought a bacon bap for me and flapjack for OH and ate them for breakfast as we walked across the salt marshes from Morston Quay towards Blakeney Point and back - the sun was shining and a brisk wind blew the cobwebs away.
There was lots of samphire on the mudflats, and little purple starry asters dotted around the edges of the marshes.
Lots of gulls of course, and geese flying inland, and we saw a few bar-tailed godwits and heard some curlew and other assorted waders and little egret searching for their lunch in the mud.
After that we dawdled along the coast road, picking up a newspaper, half a dressed lobster and some chips and parked up and had a lobster and chips picnic. On the way home we called in on some friends where we swapped some old pillows (for the cats' home) for a cuppa or two.
Now we're at home watching an amazing yellow and apricot sunset - the brisket is waiting in the slow cooker and all is right with our little bit of the world
Hope you've all had a good day - I'll have a read back and see what you've all been up to ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Evening all, Had a wonderful day. I had forgotten just how fabulous Miss Saigon was. Good job I had loads of tissues. I am definitely a convert to live events at Cinemas and will look out for more of them. We then went to Nando's. I'm afraid the diet has been well and trully blown.
Got home and went to find my Miss Saigon soundtrack. No sign of it. Mmmm I wonder whether it was Firstborn or Secondborn.
Love, love, love Blakeney point Dove - lovely photos - brings back memories of collecting samphire with my Grandad, and bringing it back for Grandma to cook - she served it liberally sprinkled with vinegar. Happy days
Glad you enjoyed Miss Saigon Yvie .....never tried the live streaming shows - sounds like its worth giving them a go.
Gave up on gardening - too many showers to dodge. Helped OH instead, who is transforming the disaster area outside our back door. I laid one course of a dry stone wall - bit like doing a jigsaw puzzle (with rotation), but one where you are never quite sure if all the pieces are there. Very proud of my efforts. Before and after photos will follow, when the after is fully finished.

Papi-Jo, Marmite is sold in Dordogne supermarkets, and Heinz baked beans.

Do they have Jardiland, Gamm Vert or Truffaut where you are Obelixx?
