I should have known you would look out for the critters Hosta.
I saw a hedgehog earlier in the year after my pup showed me where it was but not seen him since. I've left a big pile of prunings at the bottom of the garden so if he's' still about he can spend the winter there.
Obelixx the days are getting much longer. Full moon tonight but cloudy. Warming up too, so that's a blessing. Soon change the sheets to cotton rather than flannelette. Just so long as it doesn't get too hot.
Joyce - no, it's dry sherry which I don't like but it's good for cooking.
Pat - we always have cotton sheets but change the weight of the duvet to non, spring or autumn weights and sometimes a patchwork quilt depending on season and temps.
Chicky - I guess offers will depend on her choice of subject. What does she want to study?
We are just back from walking the dogs. Cold and grey turned into deceptively warm and sunny so didn't even get through the gate before needing to remove jackets and scarves. Lovely walk round the neighbouring lanes and fields. No potatoes or sugar beet here, just pastures and sweetcorn for fodder so far but some well tended and productive looking veggie plots in gardens.
Lunch next, then wardrobe sorting. The pile of cartons is slowly diminishing and OH found my missing spices used as ballast in teh otherwise heavy jams and chutney carton. That's a relief as I've seen no cardamom or Sechuan peppercorns or tamarind and so on here yet and we've done 3 big and 2 smaller SMs. Markets used to be a good source in Belgium but the reputed biggest and best is at Challans, the other side of La Roche, and we've not yet had time to go and explore it.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Morning all, feeling much brighter after a good nights sleep. Good job, as I have a nice day planned. Accompanying secondborn on her birthday treat from firstborn. She doesn't know as it's a secret so don't spill the beans. We are going to see a live streaming of the 25 year anniversary showing of Miss Saigon at the local cinema. I've seen the show 3 times and absolutely love it. Probably go for something to eat afterwards (if we haven't overdosed on Ben & Jerry's, popcorn etc etc). Can't see weightwatchers being a success this week
It's been raining heavily here but is brightening up now. Glad to hear Chicklet liked Birmingham. I know the Uni has a great reputation both academically and for local student nightlife. Not that Chicklet will be having anything to do with that as she will be too busy concentrating on her studies.
Glad you enjoyed the puzzle Pat I did it in its original format mainly because I didn't know you could change it, only found that out last night, took a while though. The site is so addictive.
Has anyone seen the story about Bob the Buskers cat on Youtube. If not take a look, it's lovely. Reminded me of the story of Tabby McTat that I read to grandchildren.
I just posted the same time as Obelixx but mine isn't here and hers is! Laptop said there was a problem.
I was just saying that none of the supermarkets here sells sherry. I use Malaga or Madeira, but if Obelixx wants dry sherry I don't know what to suggest. We buy sherry in the UK if we take the car, or friends bring it.
My tummy is a bit unhappy this morning , was going to clear up the veggie garden.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
There's odd Busy. I've used dry martini in the past - nothing else it's good for - so maybe that will suffice but Madeira is good for richer dishes. They did have very large bottle of dry Noilly Prat but that would be sacrilege - and too tall for my next to cooker cupboard.

You won't find sherry in French shops or supermarkets! Don't know why, as you'll find Port, Madeira etc. Long time ago when I used to go to England every summer I would always get a few bottles of Bristol Sherry Cream from the duty-free shop on the ferry.
You won't find Marmite either, a totally unkown "food" to French palates.
On the other hand you will discover and—hopefully—get to enjoy many typically French foods and drinks. A speciality of la Vendée is "la mogette" (baked beans) with ham. Enjoy!
Yvie, I've just done some more of Fairygirls puzzles. The statue of David was surprisingly tricky. I still love all the Scottish scenes though.
Time for shower and bed now.
ive got my first appointment with a psychologist tomorrow morning. This is because Doc says my probablem is caused by anxiety. (Or in otherwords, all in my head). It was my suggestion that I see a psychologist, so, it'll be interesting to hear what he says. It has to be better than pills.

H everyone,

Another win for Murray
I haven't seen any hedgehogs this year. They come in from the woods behind us and I leave a corner area with twigs etc for them.
Dry so will get into garden for a bit more clearing up.

Obxx - Leeds is favourite so far, followed by Birmingham. We'll have to see what comes back in the way of offers ......
