Afternoon Runny. Thanks for your suggestion. We're actually planning bamboo floor in the lounge and tiles in the kitchen and hallway so there will definately be a rug in the lounge for cosiness. For the bedroom and upstairs however his lordship wants carpet. It will I hope help keep the room warm; because now we have a smart meter where it tells you straight away how much money you're spending that heating is staying off for as long as possible!!

DD; brilliant news about the first step to your future! This chap seems a very good person to have on your side.

As for your eye: I had a real shiner appear one morning. My boss pulled me into a meeting wanting to know if I'd been in a fight (and wanted to know who won) and if I was okay. I still have no idea what caused it but it took ages to go down. Perhaps a cool compress when you can to help soothe things?

DD - brilliant news!!!    As for the eye - have you sneezed violently?  I once burst a tiny blood vessel in my eyelid by sneezing violently - at least that's what the GP thought it was, I did have a bad cold at the time.  It did the purple thing, then turned all colours of the rainbow, including a rather unpleasant yellow.  It's never happened again.

Hosta - well done, but doooooooooooo continue to take great care!!! xx

Now I must cook the mackerel - see you later ...........

    Well done DD, great news.

Busy - good that the jumpers fit.   I have found the box mine are in but don't yet need them.  20C this pm at the high point in Chateau d'Olonne.

Clari - get training that dog and OH too.  Hard floors and rugs are lovely and relatively easy to keep looking good.   Not sure I could cope with carpet anymore.   Good slippers are essential in winter though.

DD - well done with the mairie.   A good step forward and a good ally to have.

Les Sables d'Olonne turns out to be very attractive for a built up coastal resort - lots of restaurants and cafés along the front which has a long, sweeping beach of golden sand with occasional rocky outcrops and then a huge expanse of Atlantic in mill pond mode today with glittering sparkles from the sun.   The harbour has lots of fishy restaurants doing sardines for OH and moules frites for us both so we'll go back soon.  Today we just needed a coffee and a tart.  Popped into the Vendée Globe shop - no info but could have spent a fortune on logo'd t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, mugs and so on.  Then we found the tourism info - not a lot of info but I did pick up a couple of leaflets and a poster for you if you can PM me your new address.   Took some pics too if they'll help.

We went to dance class this evening.  Very different from what we're used to, a bit chaotic and no technique but good figures - one hour of jive! - and everyone is friendly and welcoming and already talking about the Xmas bash with teh other two levels.  next week is the Boston waltz which is anew one to us and apparently faster than the English waltz and slower than the Viennese.   We'll see.

Glass of wine and then bed for me.   Sweet dreams.

Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Joyce, I'm glad you got a couple of Johanna's colouring books. I've got all 4 (couldn't resist). Her work is so lovely, and the quality of the paper is very good - I can even use watercolourpaint carefully.  Which two did you get? If you want to see some interesting tuition, bring up 'Peta Hewitt's colouring tuition' site. She's a Melbourne woman and gives good hints on how to get the best out of your colouring books.image
