Getting back to kornflake's original post - I have just watched the most recent episode of GW and have a degree of sympathy with the observation about Monty's dogs. They do seem to be used as time filler now with long, lingering shots of them doing not very much at all. I have no problem at all with them being in the background and following Monty around, just don't over do the dog specific shots.
I'm also starting to feel that some segments of the hour long programmes are being extended simply because there is time to do so, rather than to provide additional information. I accept that the hour long format does allow items to be covered in a more leisurely way, but at times it seems that they are playing at 33 rather than 45. (A reference which will probably be lost on the CD and download generation )
KT53, thanks for your comment, that was all my original post was conveying.
And Tetley, I haven't been called that for many a year, ha, but each to their own, we shall miss some of the GW program, and find we have awakened an interest again in Beechgrove, with it's own foibles, but sadly there is no such animal as a perfect world, and behave? well that would be a novelty.
There shouldn't be a problem with finding enough content to fill a 60 minute gardening programme once a week, but from what I've seen so far there does seem to be an element of 'padding' to do so. They also seem to be having 'fun' with camera trickery. The guy building his raised beds being in two places at once being an example. I just found that distracting.
I accept that but many of the items aren't like Monty's bits from his garden with immediate current relevance. Some have been compiled months ago. I'd be happy to see more of the detailed stuff like Carol Klein was doing. There are loads of subjects which I hesitate to call minority interest, but more along the lines of specialist groups. Just a few minutes on one of those each week could provide info on areas which many of us don't know well or understand.

My mom was frightened of dogs, she was bitten by one. But we still had a dog,she just kept away from them.but over the years she got used to them.

Yes they are annoying, people like that shouldn't have dogs.l've come across owners like that.

I think GW is best with a half hour programme, they've tried it before with Toby buckland and it didn't work.
