Hi Hostafan1, sorry but the live and let live doesn't work for me in this situation as the expectation, excuses and consideration are all in one direction, and those that suffer and complain are treated with contempt. I am also a 'friendly' one until I encounter a dog owner who when learning that I do not share their love of their pet treat me as some sort of pariah.
But back to gardening, I assume from your name you are also a follower of the delightful Hosta. I would wish for you to have seen our Hosta collection in our Canadian garden where we enjoyed a slug and snail free environment, sadly not to be repeated since our return to blighty.
Dovefromabove, perhaps that may be true but we are ultimately the receiver of the results of bad owners and so react to that which is the nuisance.
And yes, where we lived in northern Ontario slugs and snails were so scarce they no longer were a gardeners nightmare.
And Hazel, we too enjoy the wonders of the natural world and all it's varied forms, but sadly do not share your choice of content. My sympathies are returned for your experiences as my better half shares your 'terror' of dogs now.
Kornflake, sorry about your experience with dogs. If you had said in the first place,it would have been different. I haven't come across anybody who doesn't like dogs, but a lot who are frightened of them,a lot are children.

kornflake, I have somewhere between 1,000 and 1,200 Hostas and around 120 different varieties.
Does that make me a fan? or just a bit OCD obsessive? tee hee.
I can live with our slug / snail population as they feed birds ( including buzzards!!!! ), frogs, toads , hedgehogs etc.

Hazel, right on and thanks.
Hostafan1, wow, do you think you will ever get to like them? that will keep you busy dividing them as well.
