No Easter egg hunt here as Possum is in Namur till May and OH ahs hidden our supply of Milka eggs to save me from myself. So moreish!
I have been out and planted 3 sweet potatoes that had sprouted. They're in a sunny, sheltered bed and buried under a few inches of fresh potting compost covered by a cold frame so I hope they'll be happy.
I've also planted 9 rows of 5 Bintje potatoes in the bed OH cleared for me yesterday but that left me 21 to put in wee pots till he clears me some more ground. 3 baby asparagus have been potted on to grow while waiting for their new bed and the basil plants from the SM have been potted up.
Now for a coffee and some sowing and sewing.

Another day that started off quite promising only to be pouring with rain now. No gardening today, but the Easter Egg hunts sound like fun - never had those when we were young did we?
Lizzie, yes we could start a thread about our Open gardens but I'm not really ready yet. The garden is still so wet and behind. What about nearer the time? I wonder if anyone else is opening their garden? Pap-Jo has opened his, in Brittany.
Have made a start on the veg garden. I want to sow broad beans into the ground but the patch isn't prepared. The ones in pots were about 6ins tall but they rotted in the cold frame. I've removed the weed suppressant (ha ha!) fabric and hoed up the weeds that were growing through it. The ground is horribly wet and sticky so maybe I'll have to wait . I've also pruned some raspberries.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I tried weeding in a former cabbage bed today Busy, so I could plant some shallots but the ground is too claggy and I gave up. The bits where I've been planting spuds were covered with cardboard last autumn and much easier to work with.
The previous owners put that woven plasticky nylon weed membrane down all over the place, including a strip between the now potager and the fence where there s a row of assorted trees and shrubs. It is now covered in a thick layer of couch grass and sticky bud. Nightmare.

Planted my dahlias today in pots in the g/h. Bit disappointed in the size of the tubers from Sarah Raven but hopefully they will come good. Switched on the soil warming bed so it can have a few days to heat up before I start sowing seeds. Weather is cold here but sunny. A bit damp this morning.

Added a bit more to my woven fence, then headed out shopping;
Lavender Thyme Spearmint Sage 2L of red gladioli bulbs 2L of white gladioli bulbs Rasberry rootwrap Blueberry rootwrap 2500W garden shredder 50L of ericaceous compost 500L of multipurpose compost
This last item entertained the clientele of B&Q no end as I heaved it around with all my body weight.
One gent was kind enough to hold open my boot while I loaded. Another gent helped bringing humour to the situation..!
Planted 2 packs of gladioli l got from Lidl a few weeks back into large pots. Sun came out which was totally unexpected as we were forecast heavy rain for today, and together with the breeze is drying the lawn quite well. Still have a load of seeds to sow including cosmos and tomatoes but propagator is full. See the forecast for weekend (in the South at any rate) is for warm weather. We shall see
