Thursday I was off work so I spent the day mowing what there is of the lawn (Thanks dog!) and hours weeding the borders (Thanks Sycamore tree!), cutting back shrubs, cutting down a sorry looking conifer and removing a rather large and unwieldy Hebe to give the Mexican Orange blossom next to it a bit more space and light - First proper days work in the garden since Autumn and I felt it the day after!

There's a patch of lawn that is in terrible shape due to the dog so I took measures to rectify that today (Sunday). Watched a couple of videos on prepping and laying a new lawn and then just dug it over and weeded for a spanking new flower bed instead!

There's still plenty of lawn for the dog to ruin and I get more planting space in a nice sunny spot as well. Win Win!

Ive had a lovely day in the garden. Started at 9.15am and came in at 6.15pm. Dug borders, widened a flower bed, planted seeds, potted all sorts on and pruned my neighbours shrub which is growing wildly over our wall.

Everythin is looking lovely and I'm very very happy!

Had a really good day in the garden today . Cut the grass which now looks lush and green , cut back the Buddlia that I had been meaning to do for the last fortnight . Sowed my GW Rudbekias , Leeks , Beetroot , Toms ,Chard and Sunflowers . And wasn't it a lovely day .

A gorgeous sunny day so been doing bits and bobs all day. Nearly finished weeding and raking my wildflower patch-to be but was distracted by removing weeds and moss on the driveway too. Pruned one of two large New Zealand Flax (scissors is the answer!) but back 'in half' so the second one will have to wait until later this week.

Loads of plants poking up and leafing-out now. I noticed that I have aquilegia coming under the apple tree - I sprinkled seeds from another patch last year, so pleased they have taken.

My garden and I live in South Wales.

Spending some time catching up on the forum and happy to see a bunch of familiar names.

They seem to have limited the conversation topics though? There's no off topic chat section any more it seems.

Hope theres a nice day for me on Wednesday to get more done!

  • I spent an hour watering today - twice in the cold GH (lunch time and evening) and once around the cottage - I'm sure my arms have lengthened another inch or two.

Absolutely lovely day and did so many things that I can't remember them all but am certainly worn out!  Things I can remember are removing all of the old compost from my greenhouse borders and putting it on the veg plot after clearing that of weeds.  Lots of pricking out seedlings including several dozen each of lobelia, antirrhinum & petunia, planting 2 clematis and repotting 2 more, potting on lots of strawberry runners and planting out lots of perennials which were overwintered in the GH and cold frame. Phew! image

Was surprised at how hot the sun was, or maybe it was the effect of carrying several dozen bags bags of compost and manure around?! image

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
