I know what you mean, give me the garden over the kitchen any day,I hang out the washing and don't get back in for another two hours, having found some weeds,or something needs moving! Any excuse to be out there!
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Been ponding all week, taking longer than I thought.
The mountain of liner and yards of fuzzy felt underlay nearly broke me the other evening and I thought I'd get crosser and crosser trying to arrange the plants, rocks etc but it hasn't been too bad.
I'm not finished but am almost out of butt water so probably won't fill it any more, the rain will top it up at some point I'm sure.
Still got some tinkering/trimming/edging to do but have broke the back of it. The lagoon works and when topped up drains into the pond not the flower bed. Planted everything I want to keep from the previous pond, globeflower, juncus, cinquefoil, and 7 marsh marigolds. Got 5 plants turning up next week, hope I can plant them from the bridge.
Lagoon, needs topping up with stones as it's supposed to be a bird bath, not a puddle?
Troll lair. Haven't come up with a plan for this awkward spot yet other than I need to do something with it. I think I can cut away a lot of the liner but I'm still musing.
At last a relatively dry day and I have managed to get into the field to cut back some of the ivy from the wall - only a fraction of what needs to be done but at least I made a start. I hate wild ivy - the roots just go on and on and now matter how I try I know I will never get on top of it - however the creepy crawlies would prefer me to leave the ivy just where it is.
I also planted out two echiums in our new border and I am hoping that at least one of them will grow into a spectacular plant for the summer bees.
Well it's done- I finally put in my overwinter Garlic & Onion sets. I won't bore you with why I did not get them in in the Autumn. I started them in Root trainers nearly a month ago and have put them out today, it might be a bit of a shock poor things going into cold wet soil but it was now or never.
Wow Victoria, you have been busy . Looking good ?. Great bridge, and I love the idea of a trolls lair beneath. The edging with mossy logs along with the rocks is a nice natural look, soon it will look like it's been there forever.
Puts my afternoons pottering to shame . Ha, ha .
Along with a bit of a tidy up of old foliage, I finally got round to dusting off the heated propagator and have sown my first seeds of the season. Only some that take ages to germinate. A couple of pepper varieties, plus ageratum and lobelia.
Spent the day moving and clearing the balcony had to cut back all the climbers, move five large troughs of screening bamboo's the bird table and feeders, chairs and table etc etc.
The landlords have decided after four years to replace all the balcony's after the botch job of decking when the building was built with just a few days notice.
Painted the (8x10) shed at long last, and if by magic this enormous thing has melted into the background. Also did the gate and part of the fence because the tin was still partly full. Probably 2-3 hours of painting left but that will be done whenever the rain we are due here lets up.
Our's is green - a dull green and so is the trellis - admittedly they do blend in with the hedge and grass but I would so like a bit more colour - the green plants growing up the green blend in but are hardly visible until the plants are in flower.
Today we transplanted a sedum and OH worked on the tortoise house mark ll. I edged the flower bed and pulled out a few weeds by hand.
It’s a lighter dull green lol. evergreen by Wilco’s, behind it there is a really old out of control mixed evergreen hedge and it kind of blends in with that.
The plan is to screw in wire along it and grow climbers over it, I absolutely adore honeysuckle so I’m thinking that but like always, plan subject to change.

Victoria, that has been a heck of a lot of work. The bridge looks good

What colour is your shed now Learnincurve?
