Tidied up the border over the fence, it on the garage site where excess plants / unwanted plants go, mainly sedums - geraniums - crocosmia  - Iris and hacked a branch off a rose cause it attacked me image, I'll finish cutting back the roses later. Had bag up the waste, the compost heap overflowing.

Had a gander around the garden, didn't realise how many weeds were growing so pulled some out. Thought I'll tidy one of the border edges with the half moon, got carried away and ended up doing all the border edges image

Fed up of picking litter up around the garden / garage site blown in by the wind. Can't understand why some people are so lazy they can't put rubbish in the bin image

Think I'll start some of my February sowing tomorrow image :)" src="https://gardenerscorner.co.uk/styles/default/xenforo/clear.png" data-smilie="yes" alt="image" /> its close enough.

  • A very good day yesterday. Had the Acer expert from where I volunteer round to continue the renovation pruning  of my Acers & my advanced pruning lessons.  A bright sunny day after a cold frosty start we worked from 8:30 till 3 with only a short break. The aim is to contain them within a given space but keep them looking natural. Not as straight forward as it sounds.

  • I can't do much until the dreaded decking is removed! We inherited it when we moved here 4 months ago, however I couldn't resist removing two poor pot bound clematis, into a nice deep fertilized hole by the dry stone wall, and also planted some Sweet peas indoors.I pinch them out several times to get good strong plants for planting out later.

I don't have a clue what the Clemmies are,so that will be a surprise later!

Must rush out now.........the sun has appeared!!!?????

  • Iain R please pass on your acer prunning to me - I have just repotted two acers that we have had for 4 years and they look awful - all growth on one side and the roots didn't look too hopeful either.

Apart from repotting one acer between the heavy showers, I threw some more wood chip on the new border and watch OH making a new tortoise house.

Had hydrotherapy again today, so didn't get any gardening done but did pop in to the GC on the way back, a friend who works there got us 50% discount, £5.50 for 3 1L foxgloves - hopefully they've flower this year.

  • Looked at my garden today and decided that some old ivy and periwinkle growing up and under some escallona hedging was coming out. So that took a few hours but the whole hedge looks a lot neater and will colour up well now that has been done. This created a  deeper boarder, so other plants needed to be moved it to better positions. So 6 Rudbeckia, 5 Geranions and 5 potentilla were moved and replanted to allow for this. Went in the garden at 8am and come out at 3pm, so a good days gardening work on a cold but dry day

  • You'll need a nice hot Radox bath tonight then Steve?

  • Hi Carol

I don't  have the strength in my body to get in the bath so I had a hot shower instead and possibly an early night so I can do some more in my garden tomorrow, if the weather stays dry.

They say "no rest for he wicked " but I'm quite kind to people. I just love being in the garden. You think to your self I'll only do an hour and then it becomes a full day ? So it ain't work its a pleasure.
