I agree. Old age. Now you have a planting opportunity.
Dig it out, improve the soil and plant something attractive for more than one season. I find kerria very dull once their very short flowering season is done and they sucker like mad in most gardens.

Starting to get the urge to get back out there and tidy up ready for spring. I don't usually garden in Dec and Jan, just let things look after themselves. Have a heavy cold at the moment so haven't ventured out today but hoping that the weekend will be dry enough to allow me to get going. Can't wait for that 'spring feeling' to be in the air again.
Does going to the GC count? I did buy something to grow in the garden as well as bird food.
I have sown some more seeds, Nemesia and Aubritia. The tray of Cosmos I sowed last Thursday has germinated already, so I have taken it out of the heated propagator to help prevent the seedlings from growing too quickly in the heat and becoming leggy. It will be at least two months before I can plant them outside.

I'm gardening in my head at the moment. Plan on getting the heated propogator out this weekend to get some seeds going.
Other half bought me some gardening dungarees and a blue Monty style jacket late last year. Can't wait to get them dirty!
have been watching Alice Fowlers Edible Garden on the commute and it's got me all revved up. Trying chard and kale for the first time this year.
Tootles , I grow both on allotment and would recommend it , o/h prefers kale to chard
Chard , in my opinion makes a nice plant to grow in a flower bed just for the coloured leaves
Do like spinach, if room have a go at that
Good luck with it
Hoping to do a bit of gardening today
I'm definitely 'chomping at the bit' but I would do more harm than good tramping about on my clay soil

Going to g/c , definately counts , I treat myself to coffee and cake when I go
Been cutting back this afternoon , garden bin full , emptied next Thurday , might be able squeeze a bit more in
Thanks GWRS. I'm going to buy some seeds for kale and chard this weekend. Any varieties that you can recommend, or tips on growing?
its blue skies here in Notts today. Wish I didn't have to go to work!!
Hello , I don't have a preferance on the seeds , I don't thin out the chard but do thin out the kale as it seems to need the space , hope it goes well
Just bought 20 mixed lily bulbs for a very large pot I have
Gusts of wind up to 70mph today so all I've done is pick up the Xmas tree - again - and hide the bird table from the worst of the blasts.
Next job is to sign the contract for the man with a mini digger - future gardening!
