hi all I thought I was finished with g/house mate dropped me a plastic bath over fence had to bring the frame out from under the table in g/h to put it back outside next to big bath on a big table . so I will drill a hole in bottom of bath for plastic pipe and drill a new hole in frame for new pipe..get some lagging for pipe tomorrow sigh
I am chuffed to beans that despite a damp, cool start to the day - it got out later on, which enabled me to finish off creosoting my new fence panels (Pink job!) so in a few weeks they can be erected (blue job!) by my OH.
We also hovered the pond, moved some plants and sat and had a cuppa in the sunshine!
All sounds good Suz3, do you have any pictures of your achievements today to share with us? Rain forced us to stay indoors for most of the afternoon, but I managed to pot up some Geum and Aquilegia seedlings, my OH fetched some more free bagged up horse manure from nearby, and I sold a few bags of our cooking apples to passersby.
Did the rain fill up your water butts aym - I know how desperate you were for it? We have had some rain here, but not enough to fill them right up - perhaps more here tomorrow.
Good morning all Was up 6-30 done my aberlutions etc packed my suitcase after breakfast will move on from Ripon(arrived friday) to my next stop Melrose This perhaps doesn't sound like gardening I spent some time yesterday going through plant list choosing what to order for next year my sister has given me her choice like to get it done before my departure for winter sunshine Year's ago I used to grow all my plug s but as plants like begonias seed has to be started at such time I'm away have found an excellent company that now supply me That's it it's time for breakfast
I think cjwp meant ablutions, aym? A typo I think...
Just started hammering it down, we've had plenty of rain here (NE) recently, butt 5 in my chain is currently filling.
Received some bulbs on Fri so have started planting them out, mostly daffs to go around the edge of the grass area. Still got loads to arrive though, ordered them later than usual.
Went out to plant some more bulbs this morning but soil was too difficult so I need a rethink. Moved some perennials as I need to make a path through the bog border - -it's too difficult to control the stuff at the back. Also moved clematis Rebecca as it has never done well where it had been.
Sunday is my day of rest from the garden aym, usuaully spent either listening to Archers omnibus or out walking in the afternoon at this time of year - so will check the butts tomorrow. Everything looks fresh in the garden after yesterdays little showers, but the wind is fresh - however we have sunshine today. Yay!
You are right Victoria Sponge that's what I ment Please forgive me after all Was early in the morning Have arrived at Melrose booked in at my usual hotel and it's raining Tomorrow shall find my way to Cornhill on Tweed to collect seed potatoes for next spring Youkon Gold I was impressed last year a good crop so must have some more If I was going to be in the Galloway area I could also collect more seed but as I am not they will be delivered to my sister on monday
In the last week I've cut down several piled high barrow loads of finished plants and planted 40 Thalia and Actea daffodils in the lawn under a cherry tree. I've started emptying pots and troughs of summer bedding and replacing with some fresh compost and planting violas and pansies. Still lots to do. Can't emptying the troughs of bedding dahlias as they are still in flower, despite a few mild frosts.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I had good intentions but it has started to drizzle. . . . soil needs some rain so not complaining.
