hi all been down this morn did the last muck spreading this morn kn//./ed back arms legs ache digging walking with barrow did about 30 loads the garden looks like giant moles have been there .. just 2 small spots to dig over where the space was for anything that I may have put in (but I did not) 2 about 3foot wide by 8ft long another day ? now I have a hole 8x8 4ft deep to fill all potatoes stems and roots will go in there then the lad next garden can start putting his bird muck on top of it that will rot it down now hot shower on back then rest my eyes
Dug up a load of Crocosmias which are slowly invading the garden, tipped a load of manure on top of where they were
then tackled huge ivy which has crept in from next door, stems like tree trunks. Managed to cut back to the fence, then came indoors to remove animal life from my hair and have a beer
dug over vegetable bed ready to try out square foot gardening
Builder mate came yesterday and laid granite slabs around pond. Today was spent backfilling with purple granite slate and re-fixing the net. We are really pleased with the result :-)
Also managed to creosote another two fence panels. Only 6 to go :-)
Finished off a lovely evening having friends round to have a drink or three in the evening sun.
Did loads today - painted the new bit of fence the builders re instated. Had to take all the planks off to get the inside done, but that's it now.
Moved a clematis, planted loads of bulbs, and also a Euphorbia and an Uncinium in the new border. Planted a Phormium 'Yellow Wave' into the gravel near the new border, and a white geranium in beside an oak leaf Hydrangea in it's new bed.
Shifted a couple more slabs to make the new path down the side of the 'stension.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Watered all the large pots which have permanent plants in them. No rain for a couple of weeks and none forecast for this week.
