Weeded the greengage tree bed and planted an erysimum "Bowles Mauve" and a purple salvia in it. There had been a mole in it image  Weedkilled the drive. Tried a new one, some sort of acid that said it is ecologically friendly and not dangerous for animals. Wonder if it will work.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Shredded plenty of debris from the strong winds - mostly wispy twigs. Potted on some Geum seedlings and sage cuttings.

Cut back all the broken stems of plants! Ones that had been staked fared the worst by snapping. The others  have now been tied back as the wind  has abated but it's raining again.

On a positive note picked strawberries and raspberries which were quickly devoured by grandson and friend.so not a bad day.

  • Shredded more small branches after stripping off the leaves.  It was a joint effort today.  No gardening this afternoon - a stroll along two small nature walks instead.

London clay wonderfully workable after all the rain. Took advantage. Weeds just slid out and planting was as easy as Monty' s garden.

It doesn't last so I took advantage. A couple of dry weeks and the grand canyons will open up againimage

    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • I finished off the new bog garden, cutting the liner so it is virtually impossible to see.  I dead headed my Geums on advice on here.  Would anyone like some Geum Mrs. Bradshaw seeds in a few weeks time.  They are perennial, can be sown under cover in the Autumn ready to flower next summer, (red flower), and are easy to grow.imageimageI may have some yellow flowered Lady Stratheden seeds in a few weeks time too.

    Beautiful garden Doghouse,

I am interested in your wiring of the rhodi, could you explain how you did this? Pm me if it's easier. We have some very old bushes we were propping up today.

Weeds are flowers, too, once you get to know them.”

Weeded the shady border and squashed a rosemary beetle. Couldn't find any more. This is either good news or bad newsimage

Lovelly doghouse, yesterday Hubby laid 6 huge slabs that look like slate, underneath a bench in our garden, and hung 2 new gates, re-potted the bananas.  I have made a sort of bog border, a bit near the veg plot shady and stays damp, very damp in winter, planted up a couple of ferns and 2 unusual tall stem polyanthus. Last month we hired a turf cutter, theres a little mini orchard at the bottom of the garden, before the veg plot, removed grass around apples and pears one side, have been trying for a couple of years to get a wildflower meadow going there, had previously removed turf by hand - nearly killed me, hence the turfcutter!  Then found no-one is cutting the turf atm, because march,April were too dry, then one place i desided on in Lincoln said May had been too wet to cut, hoping to get it this month.
