Yes Dove it think it might be a hedgehog/ hogs who got in during the summer. Not the best place for them. If we find them we will pop them into the wood where I think they came from

Lily hedgehogs prefer gardens/suburbia/edge of hedgerows to woodland, try not to disturb them until they rise from hibernation if you can - it shouldn't be long now unless they are already active.
I think they are already active Mark! We are quite rural here and there are plenty places better suited to them than the walled garden! We adore our wildlife and will take great care if they allow us to see them. We had a huge one who ate his way thro the gate!

@Busy-Lizzie oh that's unfortunate. I use the free newspaper which I collect from the newsagent....... 5 or 6 sheets together.....wet it with the hose and put compost on top or bark. .....works a treat.
Plant fair this morning to stock up on fancy toms and then sowing this pm in the polytunnel. Only 20C in there today and cool, grey and damp 10C outside. Sowed chilies, mangetouts, squashes and sweetcorn in cells and small pots and loo roll tubes accordingly.
Haven't told OH yet but there will be new flower borders this year to encourage pollinators in the veggie patch. He's using weed suppressor fabric on the future paths, huge sheets of black plastic from farmer Luc on the bits we haven't worked yet and we have cardboard boxes from our move in the beds awaiting veggies in warmer weather.

No gardening today - rained in AGAIN - well down on sunshine this year - seeds are not germinating in the numbers that I would like and dahlias not showing through yet even though they are in the cold greenhouse.
Wow Obelixx. Hope you are going to post a progress thread. It all sounds as if it is fairly coming on. You are lucky to have farmer Luc! I got 3 chillies germinate from a packet but the mangetout look good Geurnsey it has just started raining here so I had a marathon session today. Hope you get a better day tomorrow fruit cage is all weeded composted and fleece laid to warm up the ground a bit before I plant. Oh is about to fix the poles that buckled under the heavy snow despite netting off! The another red cornus cut down, we have 9! I try to do two a week. Then greenhouse for the fun bit of planting on tomatoes and peas everything is well covered as I have a suspicion our mouse is about. back requires rest day tomorrow. I find if I “potter” one day and work the next my back can cope!
