Did a bit on the balcony this afternoon between the showers, the new trellis is still to wet to paint I believe we are in for a couple of dry days here so maybe just maybe I will get it done last of the trellis and pots due tomorrow as well so maybe by the weekend it might be finished.

First proper gardening of the year done today ... cutting back of some perennials, golden hop, clematis, buddleja, sarcococca etc, tidying of grasses, Japanese anemones etc, removal off bittercress, dandelions and couch grass ......... council garden waste bin is full and the compost heaps need sorting out. OH has been busy removing the 'past their best' raspberry canes ready for a re-vamp of that bit of the fruit and veg patch ... then it rained ... but we've made a start at least

In and out with the showers. Not sure what I've actually done in the garden though apart from weeding! Realised I'd not sown any lettuce in the GH yet so put that right. Need to dig a test trench to see just how wet the soil is - spuds need to go in asap but no point if they're going to rot.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
I planted two perennial cottage garden type plants,Knautia, and Physostegia, got from Morrisons. A Philidelphus, and scattered forgetmenot seeds. Runner beans in pots too.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Very wet and thundery and hailstones all morning and half the afternoon. Finally had a break in the clouds and moved potting gear to the polytunnel where I happily sowed loads of seeds - aquilegias, achilleas, clematis koreana, ipomea, California poppies, monarda, eryngium, kniphofia.........
OH has been drilling holes in my party barn so he can stretch wires and guide the kiwi fruit round there where it won't interfere with his grapevines. Some daft Herbert planted it right in front of them and no support!

Can you remember the other perennials they had at Morrisons for £2 Cagzo?
At last got one coat of preserver on the new trellis hope the forecast is correct means I can get a second on tomorrow, One of the new pots I ordered arrived today but the second has gone astray for some unknown reason both ordered and dispatched from same people and the other new trellis is out there on the road somewhere.

I’ve repaired them only as covers for plastic pots after I had a batch turn up broken - an idea I got off the Internet last night.
Just some UHU superglue.
