Does anyone else's garden go absolutely nuts the second your back is turned?
Garden is a weedy overgrown mess, so perhaps should have weeded and chopped things but was in more of a planning mood today?
Moved some plants today to prepare for the winter garden-works. Normally I wouldn't be able to move stuff in Aug as the ground is too hard but as it has rained everyday this summer I was able to make a start.
Last weekend I offloaded 5 clumps of daylillies onto my sister creating space for some things I've had sat in pots, an aster (?) Calliope, a patrinia scab and some crocosmia lucifer and persicaria orangefield scraps which I had popped in the same pot the other year, had to rip them apart, bit dry and overcrammed
Rescued a little knapweed which seemed to be getting over grown by a big fast growing weed then realised it was the same plant, different leaves, replanted it like a hero
I cut the first kale off of the seedlings I planted out four weeks ago. All this rain and they are growing like crazy. Some of the sweet corn have three cobs on, but not ready yet. The neighbours are getting fed up with beans I have been giving them.
I sowed some more radish seed in the garden, and a tray of rocket for salad leaves in the greenhouse.
Gardening?! More like a construction site. Busy building three raised bed planters with a difference! 6' X 4' X 3' Using willow and gravel board. Lots of measuring, sawing, mitre joints, walking up and down to the saw and then back again. Must have done at least thirty miles. Meanwhile the plants are looking forward to getting out of their pots and into the planters.
Everything is in full bloom and the mop head hydrageas are enormous! Can't wait too see the Parthenocissus Cinquefolia take on it's Autumn colours.
I've made a new border. Lavender, Veronica. Wallflowers in between. Hardy geranium and aquelligia with the wallflowers in between. Also some foxgloves at the back, they were growing in the driveway,i don't know if they'll make it.
Decided to take out a very overgrown honeysuckle today. Discovered a rather nice wall! This new young robin kept me company. He hasn't learnt yet to fear humans and was almost in my pocket!

That will look good in the spring Logan. Love the colours and scent of wallflowers.
Thanks Joyce
Looks like you have a lovely clump of Christmas roses there Logan.
