I was wondering what to do with the huge tubers that i lifted today. Can they be potted up now once they are divided, I've been reading up on dividing and winter care and have only read about drying them off and then storing them somewhere cool in a box covered in either sand or peat free compost and then lightly misting them from time to time. But if they can be potted up in individual pots now that would be easier......should they then be kept moist and in the dark? So many different versions of what to do, it gets a bit confusing.... thanks .
PS can they be kept in an unheated g/house that is very well bubbled wrapped?
Have put pansies in the tops of deep pots in which I already have tulips and daffs that I left to settle for a day or so. Need to go and buy 2 more of the same pots for the other front doorstep and some more pansies plus pots for more bulbs since I don't yet have beds to plant anything.
There are shrubs in a mixed hedge sort of bed along the fence but they're in landscape fabric so I can't put bulbs in there and in any case the ground is rock hard from over 2 months of drought.

Had a tidy up, no rain for so long, watered the pots and the beds. Cut back the astilbies, they were in a bad way because its been so dry, they are in a shady bit which usually stays damp, behind the shed. Tidied up some of the perennial bedding.
Cut back, pruned, fed, potted up, mowed and watered.Cleaned and tidied the greenhouse, and then put my shelves in and pots of delicate plants. Looked longingly at my packs of seeds, and mooched around the garden, planning as to where I will put them (I will no doubt change my mind several times before Spring!) Going to sort out my Son and DIL's garden tomorrow....I ache all over!! Everything looks nice and tidy though.
I know that everything needs to go to sleep for a while, but am I the only one willing everything to grow?

Thank you Verdun! I have a couple with lots of tubers and several stems, so I will give it a go! You are the Dahlia Guru

Finally started planting wallflowers.
How long do I have to plant them all?

I've sown two double rows of broad beans
I'm going to plant my wallflowers this weekend

Might be a daft question but how big is a row? Long time since I've grown them so how many do I need for 2 people and a freezer?
